Hi Guys!
Still having problems with my livebox and Windows Vista. (Now on 3rd livebox lol).
It really is doing my head in, and now the internet is imperative (for job purposes) so it can't keep doing this - any help would be greatly appreciated!
Wireless
Now, I went wireless to see if that would help. Half the time, the wireless connection fails to even connect (at whatever stage, windows says won't connect) - and when it does... about 30 mins later... for some reason it just disconnects itself!! Tried 2 different channels.
Im having problems now even getting the wireless adapter to even find the livebox... even when the "pairing" light is flashing!!
Wired
Again, major problems with this. Half the time, it just connects with nothing at all...
...or it is stuck on "Identifying" the whole time.
Other times... I get two networks appear???? Livebox-1AE1 etc and "Unidentified Network"... and this is on the same local area connection. Why is Vista saying there are two (with both the same ips etc) networks when there is only one!
When it does eventually connect via ethernet... just like wireless... it randomly disconnects!!
Any ideas why this is doing it? I've changed the filters around and everything is ON a filter. (Even tested it in a master socket... same problems).

If it's done this with different liveboxes then it's either the wireless adapter, windows or interference. Interference would be more my guess so it would be a good idea to try going through all the channels.

The pairing light flashing or not shouldn't make any difference to detecting the livebox.

Could something me wrong with Vista?
This is a problem between the livebox and the PC. If ethernet does the same as wireless with more than 1 livebox then there has to be something wrong with the system. Most likely some core part of vista itself otherwise it wouldn't effect both types of connection.
You could try manually setting the wired connection's IP, that should mean it doesn't need to do any identification and just uses the address given.
Go into network and sharing,
click view status for the ethernet connection,
click the properties button,
highlight internet protocol v4 (tcp/ip) and click properties,
select the use the following for IP and enter:
IP 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
select use the following for DNS and enter:
Primary 195.92.195.94
Secondary 195.92.195.95
Ok and close all the windows and see if it helps after restarting.
If it doesn't help then go back in and set the 2 settings back to automatic. This isn't ideal for wireless as it makes verifying the connection a little bit harder.
Thanks very much for your help. The adapter was a new Belkin one so it was either Windows or Interference! I changed the channel and now *touch wood* it seems to be working fine for several days.
I've connected the livebox to another pc - windows xp - and it seems to be working fine.
