I started out on wanadoo broadband 1mb and got the speedtouch 330 ADSL modem, eventually Orange took over. Everything was fine for over 2 years since i first got broadband until one day my line goes down for no reason at all. Eventually i am able to reconnect to the internet and what is this i see when i connect? " you are now connected at 6.5mbps!"
and this is where the problems started.....
I didn't even ask for this stupid f**king upgrade and now i'm on a connection that is unstable as hell and randomly disconnects whenever ( usually worse between 11pm - 6am).
Now i was fine with 1meg as i could stay connected for as long as i wanted even though i was paying the same price as 8meg users.
I have requested a MAC code before as i was going to switch provider and customer services said they would send me an email with it as they cannot tell me it over the phone - i never got that email so it seems i'm stuck with Orange
Any advice on what the problems i'm having could be? or what i should do?

thanks for reading and sorry for the wall of text
Ring them again and remind them that by law they have to provide you with a MAC within 5 days or you will report them to Ofcom and the ISPA
