Hi to you all,
i have been with wannadoo / orange for quite some time, never had a problem until January when my speed was increased from 1.1 to 5.1, now it disconnects every few minutes. It isn't so bad during the day, but at night it is unbearable! I am thinking of switching to another ISP, one question -- do i lose my email address ?
If you do nothing then yes eventually. Used to be 3 months before it suspended but I beleive it's now changed to almost 7 months. It expires and is then deleted about a month and a half later.
It can be reactivated through the website, just remember you won't be able to send through the accout unless using webmail or an Orange connection.

That's rubbish.
I'm using my old wanadoo email address and sending via Virgin Media / NTL servers.
Exactly, you're sending through your Virgin Media account and not the Orange account. It's not about what address is on the email it's about specifically what server sends the email for you.
Sorry if I made that a little unclear.

So you can still go to Orange.co.uk and login to your mail as usual or do you have to access it another way?
Yes you can access it through the Orange website and it should work completely as normal through there, both sending and receiving. It's because in that case your PC is technically not sending the email, it's passing those details to Orange's webserver which is authorised to send the email through their servers. Almost all web based email services are like that in order to provide access from alternate locations, for example if you were on holiday or away from home.

Thanks Elhana, that is great news. I was thinking I may have to move all my important emails first before migration and then change my email address on all my accounts but I should have more time now which is good.
