I must be one of the few who has been happy with my Livebox etc!
But 12 days ago my Talk service stopped sending and receiving calls. The phone light is on and 3 phones have been tested with the Livebox.I am convinced the problem is within the Livebox but Orange support say it cannot be so as the lights are all correct. When I dial out I can hear the dialling tone and then it cuts out-if I dial in I can see the phone light flashing but the handset does not ring. Orange support sent me a new telephone adapter but still no joy. After many calls to Orange support I was informed that on 5th July things were escalated and I would hear in 5 days. No such luck! I called again Sunday 15th and was informed a Manager would call me back -again no joy. I called again today and it was confirmed that things had been escalated and information has probably been sent to France! At the same time I did mention that I was affected by a thunderstorm and could this be the reason? My brother who lives in France had a similar problem with his Livebox and was sent a new one within a couple of days!!
Has anyone any views on this problem and how long should I expect to wait
If I am honest I would say do not hold your breath.
I have spent weeks trying to get a replacement livebox as my talk service also stopped working the day of a storm (although it was actually all unplugged.... so may not be related).
I have waited for callbacks... never happened.... and the escalations seem to be nothing more than a delay tactic. I have yet to have the problem fixed and I am not trying to change provider.
They are even trying to say I cant cancel without paying a cancellation fee as the fact the talk service is not working is not a reason to cancel.
You will likely get put off a few more time yet.... but truly good luck and if you get anywhere.... tell me how!
I've had an identical problem - I was using Talk during a thunderstorm, when a loud clap of thunder caused my phone to go dead and I haven't been able to phone out or receive a call since, even though the Livebox phone light is on! I reported it and duly received a new adapter - no joy! I've tried other corded and cordless telephones as advised by Orange Support - still no go! I'm convinced the problem's with the Livebox itself - perhaps some earthing problem???
My case too is at escalation stage and I'm waiting to be contacted.
Perhaps we could keep each other posted.
My VOIP has stopped working too - about the same time my computer power supply was blown up - blamed on storm. Si I think the Livebox suffered a related fate. ADSL is working as usual but VOIP has no signal despite Talk lite being permanently ON.
What to do? Unless anybody knows how to get a replacement Livebox I think I'll forget about it - the VOIP call quality was terrible anyway. BT probably does a cheap evening/weekend package anyway.
BTW my other Livebox problem is the ADSL resetting itself when I walk through the wireless signal (I kid you not!). But again, the workaround is to impose a "no moving rule" in the house.
Ahhh the hastle of having unlimited BB for £5 a month...
I have tried everything suggested in previous replies and still no luck with phone.
Orange have now asked me 3 times to go through all the processes on the phone and then when I sent what I thought was a formal complaint asked me yet again by email!
All has apparently been escalated twice and they have asked ME to keep in touch with them!!
I have now been without Talk for 4 weeks which infuriates me as I took out this contract because of the free calls promised.
I wiill change contract if I can. I know that the BT Voip Talk is far superior as far as sound quality goes and you also get a local number for your own area.
I wonder if you could rent a Livebox for a couple of days...that would rule it out. Or perhaps they're going cheap (very cheap?) on Ebay?
It wouldn't activate for the talk service. It's done on a per box basis using the serial number and MAC address of the box. So trying a different box just won't work and getting the system updated to use the different box is more hastle than it's worth.
