Just when I thought I was out!!! They pull me back in!!!
I've been a long standing Freeserve/ Wanadoo/ Orange Broadband user for the last however many years. I've been putting up with all of their crap basically and finally realised it was time to escape earlier this year.
I'm not going to tell you all of the many problems I've had with the scumbags over the years but let's just say; If their offices, call centres and buildings affiliated were victim of a synchronised terrorist attack I would NOT shed a tear.
I think it was May when I first tried to get a MAC code and flee the sinking ship. After problems with my password they finally accepted that I was the account holder and issued me one. I asked them to send out via EMAIL – which I asked them to update as it was very very old and guess what? It didn’t arrive. I call up, weeks later and they tell me it over the phone.
Then I give this code of freedom to my new broadband provider – which happens to be Sky by the way – and hope for the best. Weeks pass, all the Sky gear arrives so I give that a go… I can’t get onto the Internet. Then I try the Livebox and that piece of dog excrement can’t get online now – I call up Orange and the chimp-like “Technical Team” don’t have a clue. I call up Sky asking why I’m not online and they tell me the MAC code didn’t work – I should have known.
Meanwhile Orange ARE STILL CHARGING ME £20 a month!!!
I call today to get ANOTHER code of liberty and they say they’ll send it out to me. As I suspected they still have the OLD email address on their books, so I ask them to update it again, like it will matter. I should have a new code in 48 hours, but who knows?
Why can’t I leave Orange???? What will happen if I cancel the direct debit? Help, help, please help my rid myself and my PC of these demons.
With a whole website dedicated (and what a website it is) to their problems it’s no wonder they are the worst broadband providers!!!
Check your "member@" address. Orange made this address up out of thin air and I didn't realise it existed until I checked by email via their website once (webmail).
This is the only address they would send correspondence to in my experience. And you need to check it via webmail; for some reason OE won't download them (in my experience).
I wouldn't advise cancelling your DD. They'll only charge you a fiver late payment fee. And whatever you do - DO NOT accept any free or half price months from them - you'll be entering into a new 12 month contract (although they neglect to tell you that bit).
Good luck. You'll be rid of them soon, be patient.

Come on man, I know how you feel, but their staff are just humans doing a sh*tty job for sh*tty employers.
