Upgraded to upto 8 meg in feb 2007.Speed capped at 608. Logged onto Orange today to find.
Your current speed is 512k
You can upgrade to 8 Meg
Upgrade cost free
Changing your speed will start another 12 month contract.
On another screen it says
Your current package is Broadband unlimited 19.99 per month up to 8 meg, talk and unlimited use.
Rang them cause i want the speed but not to start another contract only to be told when I upgraded because the speed wasnot available in feb it only upgraded the package not the speed, and now that the speed is available I have to have another upgrade and 12 month contract.
Am I being thick/stupid to think that they should upgrade my speed automatically as I am paying for the upto 8 meg service without a new contract.
By the way they offered 1 month goodwill which I refused-intend to take this further-wot do u guys think
Unf**king believable. I read this post then went to check the member centre myself and saw exactly the same information. This is yet another ploy to keep a hold of users for as long as possible.
Can someone tell me why the hell should we have accept a NEW 12 month for a speed boost we were entitled to in the first place when we signed up for "Up-to-8meg"?
Considering the s**t that Orange has given customers this really gets my blood boiling. I've spoken to CS, and they said this should not have happened and that any speed increased should have been automatic without the renewed contract (this info is from an agent who has common sense). My situation has been forwarded to escalations to be looked into. I'm to wait 48hrs before making any enquires.
Orange nevers seems to fail on the dirty tricks...

Changing your speed means you'll be starting a new 12 month contract from the date your speed change has completed. We'll email you to confirm the change.
Your current broadband speed is:4.5Meg (No, it's unlimited up to 8M!)
You can upgrade up to:3.5Meg (let me think about that for a momnet...)
Upgrade cost:free

Remember!
Not all phone lines can deliver the speed quoted. But we'll automatically give you the highest speed your line can support. (b*****ks!)

You're confusing package with the speed your line can support. If you're on ADSL Max then that speed should be the MSR for your line. If it's LLU then I believe it's what it should be capped at.
Normally speeds don't change so the system assumes if the line can support a different speed to what it's currently on then you can "upgrade". It's been like that for quite sometime.
