I've had random disconnections for about 6 months now. heres what happens
@ symbol starts to flash
phone symbol is lost
wireless symbol stays lit
@ symbol becomes solid
I can then connect to the net.
When you look on the livebox status it goes
contacting PPP server
Synchronising
connected
I have varying connection times from 1.5 hours at good times to less than 10 seconds at other times. It seems to have fits where it keeps disconnecting over about 40-50minutes every 2-5 minutes, then it will settle down.
It also seems to be worse on weeknights between 5 and 9. Also on occaisson it disconnects when we get a phone call.
Setup - livebox and Sky through the main BT socket filtered. phone through addtional socket, filtered and third socket with nothing and filtered.
I've replaced the RJ11 cable and i've swapped and bought new filters. I never lose the connection to the livebox only the internet.
So i removed the section and plugged straight into the BT test socket. I still have constant disconnections. Its awfull this morning, i've not been connected longer than 2 minutes. Trying to post this message has been a nightmare. and thats 9am on a sunday.
Have a bit information about the lights.
- when it disconnects the @ light flashes then flashes quickly for up to 12 seconds.
- then the @light flashes slowly for 5-6 seconds
- then it connects
Livebox info goes
PPP in progress
Synchronisation in progress
connected
and repeat.
I'm an online gamer and these sort of disconnections make playing pointless.
Well everyone on here, including myself, who experienced disconnections or even no connection at all with Orange gets an immediate speed increase when they move to a real ISP.
I moved from the nightmare Orange last September and have never had a speed decrease or disconnection since.
I too have my broadband mostly for playing games and know just how important it is, like you're saying.
You'll never get any decent service with Orange just lies and excuses.
My advice is to leave ASAP instead of putting up with the rubbish they give you.
I phoned Orange yesterday for about 30 mins. Have had more than a few conversations with them and they always go through the same routine.
Reset to factory settings
Cables and filters
Line test
I said yes i have done them all with them on previous phone calls. They had no further advice and told me to contact BT. I then asked for my MAC code and the rep on the phone suddenly couldn't understand what i wanted. In the end i gave up on getting the code from them.
Can i write and get it?
Is there someone special i can phone to get it?
Do i need it?
Interestingly when i plugged my phone and broadband into the BT test socket through a filter i had connection for 1.5 hours which is unheard of. I'm going to check tonight to see how long its been connected for and i'll let you know.
