I was being deluged (thousands!) with Spam through my old Freeserve e-mail account. At this time I am still willing to 'stick it out' with Orange until I make a decision on whether to change to a new ISP or not. I created a free account with Yahoo Mail and configured it to work in OE through the YPOPs software. Once it was set up, I disabled the Orange account in OE and am currently having no problems with the Yahoo account.... and not one Spam! (phew!).
My question is will I have any repercussions in the future by disabling the Orange email account because of non-usage? Is there anyway I can set the Yahoo email to be the contact email from Orange? What I mean by that is when Orange send me any emails regarding my account, I won't receive them because I have disabled the Orange (Freeserve) email address I was using and I haven't found a way to change it for contact purposes.

When i did that last year i used GMail (still do) the only option was to log in to my Freeserve account on the Orange website now and again to keep it active, i literally just used to log in delete the couple of thousand spam emails in it lol and log out i did that till i was sure everyone had got my new address, once i was sure i abandoned it.

Thanks for the reply, is Gmail better than Yahoo for free email or is it down to preference?
That's still my question though, I couldn't care less whether Orange wipe my old Freeserve email address of the face of the earth (in fact it would be a blessing!) but does it affect my account with them? I am a Broadband package payer. Does it mean I won't have a usable email account through Orange but my Internet access would still stay the same? If this is the case, how would Orange contact me via email if I cant change my contact email address with them?
Once again, any help or info on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Personally i find GMail much better with more features as for your Orange email it doesn't effect your broadband wether you use it or not you can use what ever email account suits you i stopped using my Freeserve email a year before i left Orange it should stay open as long as you have a broadband account but if im wrong Elhana will put you right.

Once again, thanks for the prompt reply. I will certainly look into GMail as it's never to late to change if I find Yahoo unsatisfactory in the long run. As I said, I don't even want the old Freeserve email address, I just need peace of mind that my account wont be closed down knowing how Orange work in mysterious ways!!
Thanks again for your input which is very much appreciated.
YOu don't have to use the Orange email address, they just use the second half of it as the basis of yuor username. You can use any email address. You can either email them with a change of your contact email address, or phone them with the details and they will adjust their records accordingly.
