I have been with wanadoo for years and it was fine even when they changed to Orange. I was on a 2MB connection for just over 2 years and decided to get th efree upgrade to 8MB, this was flawless and worked great until I decided to upgrade from the £17.99 a month package to Wireless and Talk, possibly the worst mistake ever. Since I was changing the package they said they needed to recheck the speed and since then I have had a download speed of no faster than 20kbps which is sickening. This fault has been here for over 2 months and every time I call they tell me its a server issue and to keep waiting.
I am pretty sure its a fault at the exchange as the slow speed is constantly stuck like that regardless of the time of day but the indians just dont listen and ive had enough.
anyone have any ideas or should i just cancel like im planning to do at the moment?
Looks to me like you are really close to your exchange. Non LLU exchange by the looks. From the stats I would guess you could get at least 7M.
If I were you (and I was), I would call support and ask to be put through to the complaints department - make a formal complaint making a note of the name of the person you talk to.
Next, call support again and ask to speak to a supervisor in order to have this issue escalated.
Now you will have to wait 10 days - if no joy - log a complaint with ISPA.
Have you kept a log of the support calls you have made? Have you kept a log of speed tests from the past? This may come in handy later to support your case.
If you can, speak to support in the UK - I fould the best time to achive this would be around 8am.
ive been on the phone to them almost every day since the 26th of April, i have spoken to the UK call centre and the one in india and spoken to a bunch of supervisors, all i keep getting told is that its a known issue and their engineers are working on it and that its affecting alot of users.
i am less than half a mile from the exchange and the reason i think there has been a mess up there is beacause it was on the day they rechecked the speed that the problems started. they keep telling me that the speeds are low during busy times but mine are slow 24/7.
whats the best number to call to talk to the complaints department?
P.S. the speedtester site never works, keeps saying the servers are down.
All you ever get from Orange is lies and excuses.
Like the thousands upon thousands of people I too had my share of nightmares with them.
As soon as I moved toa real ISP - Idnet, everything was fine and has been ever since last Sepetmber.
My advice is to leave ASAP as things will never improve.
You have 2 choices: stay or leave.
If you want to invest 10 days to get it sorted, make a complaint, and log a complaint with ISPA. The ISPA have contacts within Orange that you will not be able to reach. If NADA, quit.
For my 2 cents worth, I like the unlimited (service) and it was worth being insistant.
Having said that it caused me grief and I would not want to spend any more of my life fighting a crap service company.
ive lodged a complaint with ISPA and should hopefully hear something soon, i have never had any problems with wanadoo/orange for 3 years and that includes a couple of house moves, this is the first fault i have found with them and i would like to stay.
ill give them another 10 days or so so see what they can do as moving ISP is hassle and i want to avoid that.
