I recently brought a wireless router and cannot get my Internet connection to work with it.

My laptop can see the wireless network from the router, but I can't connect to the Internet.

I finally called Tech Support and they basically said they couldn't help me as it was not one of their recommended routers.

The router is a Buffalo WBMR-G54.

Would anyone know what settings I need to set up on the router to connect to the Internet?

I can only access the Internet at work now, and I don't often get the chance.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you don't have the manual for your router, you can obtain it here .

Is the internet connection working on a wired connection? But seriously, read from page 4-7 in the manual, should be fairly straight forward. (reminding you that a wired connection may be preferable to initially get things setup)
If you stumble across anything settings wise, try ringing through to just verify with tech support.

Let us know if you have had a working internet connection before and have you got a speedtouch modem (still), a little too many theories can still be raised at the moment.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I did have a Speedtouch 330 before, but when it broke I decided to buy a wireless router to use with a new laptop.

The Internet connection does not work with a wired connection.

I spoke to Tech Support and eventually got the required settings

I have entered these settings into the router, but still can't access the Internet.

The router has a test tool, the ADSL sync passes, but the Internet connectivity test fails.

The status of the ADSL shows the line status to be connecting, but never connected.

I am at a complete loss as to how to get this to work.

I am even prepared to just buy another router if there is an easier one to set up than this.

Any help is much appreciated.

Try these settings open a browser and type 192.168.11.1 username and password is admin go to set up menu and run wizard choose appropriate settings below.

Protocol/Encapsulation :- PPPoA (PPP over ATM)
Multiplexing method: VC-BASED or VC-Mux
VPI = 0
VCI = 38
DSL Standard: G.dmt
Security Protocol: CHAP

You will also have change some settings if you changed from a usb modem to a router open internet explorer click Tools>Internet options>Connections tab and make sure "Never dial a connection is checked" click apply then ok restart Internet Explorer.

Remove the speedtouch software.

Make sure that you are using the correct username and password.
