I joined Orange earlier this year, i think it may have been the 8mb deal (my brother signed up), although it never really runs that fast. Every now and then, it will decide to stop working altogether and over the past few days it has been off compeltely.

Basically, i connect to the livebox ok so my computer thinks everything is good, yet it just doesnt connect to the internet. When i try signing in to windows live messenger, it fails and when i press troubleshoot it tells me there is a problem with the dns.

Can anyone help with this?

When it's not working does the @ light stay solid or is it flashing, if flashing is it quickly or slowly?

If it stays solid then go to start click run enter "cmd" and ok it so it brings up a black window and then type in the following:

ping www.google.com

If it doesn't receive any try the next one.

ping 64.233.167.104

If only the second works then there should be an easy fix.
Goto network connections,
Right click your connection and select properties,
Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties,
Change the DNS option to use the following and enter:
195.92.195.94
195.92.195.95

See if that helps.

Sorry i can only reply whilst i am at work.

The @ light is flashing quickly.
I tried your instructions anyway, but they failed.
Any ideas?

FAST FLASHING @ ON LIVEBOX:

# No broadband on line
Install USB modem to see if broadband is on the line
OR
Login bt_test_user@fs password 123abc

# Have they closed your account
Can you log onto members centre
Have you failed to make a payment

# Unfiltered phone
Disconnect all phones

# Is Livebox installed correctly
Re-install
Factory reset Livebox

# Leads on Livebox reversed for internet and telephone
Internet socket is one next to power line
Telephone is one marked white

# Internal telephone wiring faulty

I had the exact same problem, and ended up moving to BT because Orange couldn't give me a date when this would be fixed.

I have heard that multiple people near me are having the same issue, what part of UK are you in? Im in North-west, the exchange is Hartford.

Turns out i have some problems with my phone line, so not actually oranges fault Embarassed

But it did happen like once a week for a few hours, but i will move as soon as the contract is over thats for sure
