I am in a similar situation to many on here in that I have signed up for an 8mb connection with Orange and am being provided with speeds close to dial up. I see that a lot of the advice is to leave and go to an alternative isp. However, in order to qualify for the cheap (well it would be if it worked) broadband I also took an 18 month contract for a phone. If I cancel the broad band I will end up hugely overpaying as I cannot get out of the phone contract. Has anyone had any success ending a mobile contract on the grounds they were missold it to qualify them for cheap broadband that was subsequently not provided?
Every time I call the tech support line I get told that there is an ongoing problem (like I don't know that!) and that their engineers are working on it. Starting to feel more than a little fobbed off.
For what it's worth here's my livebox info:
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 8128 288
WAN IP address : 91.109.10.67
Gateway : 91.109.0.1
Primary DNS server : 193.36.79.100
Secondary DNS server : 193.36.79.101
Orange is the worst internet provider EVER....sick of phoning the technical support line in India (making my phone bills massive).....wrote a letter to head office and gave me an insulting £5 refund off my next bill (which was about £20 more anyway from phoning bloody Orange)....SSSSSLLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW speeds for over a month (slower than when i had dial up)......and i can't cancel my contract as i have it free with an 18 month phone contract (didn't even want the mobile phone but thought what the hell for an extra £10 a month i may aswel to get the free broadband)......BIG MISTAKE!!!!! i hate Orange...emailed, rang, done everything but no help......still slow as ever!!!!

Well - I've written a stroppy letter to customer services too (for all the good it'll do me). Will keep you posted on the outcome.
Like most contracts they work both ways and going by most Broadband forums Orange seem to think it goes one way and that is theirs unless u express this to the Orange agents when you fone them they will literally take the p**s out of you as most are on comission report them to Ofcom and the ISPA tell you have reported them and im sure you will see a difference get your MAC and leave this dire company.
