My folks have Wanadoo/Orange. They also have that Speedtouch Connection software. The diagnostic tool says it is connecting to the ISP fine but cannot connect to the internet. The website says broadband is 'green'. Is anyone else experiencing server issues with them atm? They are on a 512k connection.
Does the speedtouch connect ok or give an error?
Version of windows?
Anti-virus/firewall running? Sometimes updates to them reset bits and stop access.
Do ping tests go through ok? (see below)
Ping testing
Start > Run,
type in "cmd" or "command" click ok,
In the black window type "ping 212.58.224.116" press enter,
Looking for 4 packets recevied,
type in "ping www.bbc.com" press enter,
Again looking for 4 packets received.[/b]
OK. Speed touch connect fine- no issues there. It says it is connected and the handshake with the ISP seems OK. They are on Windows 98 SE. They have Zone Alarm on but I've tried turning it off and still no internet. Haven't tried the ping - will have a look tomorrow. But it does seem to be a server issue. From all appearances it is connected - the problem does seem to be with the server.
Could be server related but equally PC related. A little problem in part of the system and it throws it all off, seen it happen to my own computers twice.
Once I know exactly why but the second I have no idea what went wrong with it.
