as i've noticed from this site im not the only one having problems with Orange, apart from the slow internet speeds at times and a high ping in online gaming i have one problem that really bugs me.
my live box, it keeps resetting randomly and all of a sudden it will be back to flashing light then working this does become a pain in the ass after a while. I have try oranges phone service but the are obviously just reading out of a book and cannot help in anyway.
is there anything im missing ?
i have a belkin adaptor so do my brothers and normally there are 2 - 4 computers connected to the box thro wireless.
i can't figure why this box keeps doing it but if it keeps up im going to have to find another provider
I had a similar problem with my box, it kept resetting itself as if the power had been turned off and on. I rang Orange and insisted to them that it had to be either the power supply or the box itself at fault. They did send me a new power supply and it appears to be ok now.......touchwood!

Specificially what happens?
Describe the light sequence roughly. It's important to know if it's actually resetting or just losing connection for a moment.
it goes all blank then the very left light starts to flash very fash and then they all just start to appear and then i have to wait a few mins to get a connection again
after 2 months of my livebox resetting every few mins. usual story of linetest after linetest and new power supply nothing worked. i thought i would try my own power supply (12v switch mode 2A), it amazed me by working perfectly for half an hour then back to normal(resetting!) thought it might be less power dissipating in the box (overheating), so i put a desk fan next to the livebox blowing air through it. it worked perfectly for a whole day. have now taped a cpu fan onto the livebox. touch wood its still working!
Perhaps somebody can help here. My Livebox "resets" when I walk past it.
I use 2 wireless conenctions. It's as if interrupting the wireless connection (by walking through it) sends a feedback signal to the Livebox which causes it to reset.
By "reset" I mean lose external internet conenction and VOIP. I guess its like a s/w reboot...dman annoying.
hi again, just wanted to ask if anyone has tried my cooling sugestion, i've had my live box running perfectly since i cooled it with a fan. i have tried switching off the fan and within ten min the livebox is back to its unreliable self, switch the fan back and the livebox is perfect. try it, i can't believe i'm the only one with this problem.

Simply breaking the wireless signal shouldn't normally restart the livebox. I'd check the powerpack first, make sure it's not somehow loose and slight movements cause it to lose contact for a moment.
When it happens though does the livebox fully restart or just lose the broadband connect?

When I walk past my Livebox, I lose Internet for a couple of mins. I don't touch anything. The following happens :-
1. @ light starts to flash fast
2. after a while @ flashes slowly for a few seconds
3. @ turns solid followed my some data activity on light >>
Then the internet is accessible. Is this a reset or have I just lost broadband? I guess its the latter. Thanks Elhana.
Yeah thats just a loss in the broadband and not a full reset. There is a way to tell if it's the wireless but you'll need to be able to move it to a PC to access the settings afterwards if theres not one attached to it already.
Open 192.168.1.1 in internet explorer,
Click the link and put the username and password in as "admin",
Go into Security > Wireless Connection,
Untick the Enable Wireless LAN box and submit,
This will turn off the wireless and the antenna light should go out.
Once done leave it a good 10 minutes or so and see if the same thing happens when you walk past, if it does then it's not the wireless signal being broken seeing as it's not there anymore. It's probably some sort of loose joint somewhere.
Can you pickup the livebox without it doing the same thing?
Any phone cables going under the floorboards where you walk by?
To turn it back on repeat the steps but just tick the box instead.
