I have been looking to migrate from Orange to another ISP. A few weeks ago I was typing my phone number into various ISP websites and they obviously came back saying I needed to provide a MAC. Tonight I have been typing my number into the same sites and they are all coming back saying:
There is an incompatible product on your line
It appears that you have an incompatible product on your telephone line. Please contact BT Retail (150 from a landline) to find out what the issue might be. We won't be able to accept or progress your order unless your line shows up as a normal BT phone line without any other services or products that are incompatible with providing you with our broadband. Due to Data Protection, BT will not be able to give us any information about your line so unfortunately we are not able to do this on your behalf.
Ah yeah I skimmed over the part about checking a few weeks ago so yeah, it should be fine to use a MAC you've requested recently providing the new ISP accepts it ok.
Its all ok. Im not taking the MAC option. The incompatable product is because there is a cease order on my line. I called BT to confirm and they tell me it will be cleared on the 25th June. Thanks
