Hey I only just discovered this forum, comforting to know I’m not the only one in the same boat, yet sad and angry that Orange have caused so much headache and problems for so many people.
I’ve had numerous problems with Orange boardband, the biggest was last year when I didn’t have a connection for 3 months, argh.
But my most recent problem is whenever I switch on my computer, it takes around 10-20 minutes (sometimes even longer) before I can get a connection to the internet (when the ADSL light is solid green). even when I do get connected, it usually disconnects from time to time. it's been like this for nearly 2 months... is my particular problem quite common? (though scanning this forum, orange seem to have quite a loot of problems...)
You're one of the lucky ones Ken - you can actually get connected.
I would leave Orange ASAP as their service is beyone belief, I don't know how they get away with it.
Last August my connection went down for 2 weeks, every day I rang up I was fobbed off with their usual 'ring back in 48 hours after our line tests'.
I left them as 2 weeks without a connection is a joke.
yeah right now i'm just looking around for different ISP and offers they have. looking around this forum been good for help and tips. my friend's with Virgin media and i'm awestruck at his connection speed compared to mind atm haha
i'm pretty shocked how bad the service has become since it became Orange. before i was a happy customer with wanadoo (and before that freeserve). the deterioration has been quite staggering to say the least

Ken, heres a tip.. it may or may not work!.
Switch on your PC and while the ADSL light is flashing make a call on your phone line, the one thats used for your internet connection, (I do a 1471).. wait for it to answer and see if your ADSL light changes to solid.
I have been having to do this since my upgrade 6 months ago.. f****g Orange!!
I can thoroughly recommend Idnet - had them since last September and never lost a onnection once, it's also very fast too with ENGLISH SPEAKING customer support who care.
I know BE are highly recommended too.
ALso my next door neighbour is with BT which is fast and reliable.
Do leave Orange though, you'll find your broadband will be so fast with a real ISP.
