My most successful day with the Call Centre - after two months without broadband, 37 phone calls to different agents and 21 line tests I finally admitted defeat and have decided to get my life back and cancel.
The cancellation agent was polite and efficient and handled all parts of the transaction professionally (including refunding the last two months charges) - more helpful than any of the Techies who just went round and round in circles and are not empowered to resolve problems - how ironic that the first time I find a reason to praise Wanadoo is that they are better at handling cancellations than working on retaining customers
You were indeed lucky to be dealing with Wanadoo in England and not France. Being in a similar position with sleepless nights thinking of what I would like to do with the direction of Wanadoo Orange I also decided to call it a day and get my life back but was told that they were willing to cancel the service but not the payments. They would graciously accept me back within six months with the same details. Reading, too late, their regulation it seems to say that someone living in France is not allowed to leave Wnadoo/Orange except for imprisonment or bankruptcy. Moving house you have to get W/O in the new area and pay for the re-connection at your own expense. I have had Francetelecom and found their service excellent but their subsidary is rubbish.
