Yes, indeed.
I'm on Leytonstone exchange incidentally.
I use a Speedtouch modem, not a Lurvebox, so there's less detail
to worry about when identifying what's happening.
My Orange server session tends to go "stale" if I leave the PC idle
for a good while. I have to reconnect to reestablish my session.
There were also server outages over the bank holiday, where
I got login timeouts or login rejections from those Citrus Servers.
I put those down to unannounced system housekeeping/admin
capers and, as usually happens for me, service resumes after an
hour or so.
My ADSL connection to the exchange has been stable and stays
at the 2.7Mb/s cap or close to it. It's just the Orange IP servers
that have been flakey for me.
I'm SE of London as well, and still getting disconnects at around 5-7PM (I switch the computer back on at around this time and the PPP Server just doesn't get back to me for the rest of the night.)
Sometimes I find it's better to leave my computer and connection on over the aforementioned danger period, but I'm not sure if that's just luck? Anyway, it's very annoying.
Yes still getting the nightly dropouts about 8-10pm, lasts untill 5am; which has been happening for 2 weeks. Except tonight! but am I optimistic?
Not sure what Orange can do that apart from the exchange part of the setup, it's not the link to exchange and not the connection in the exchange, it to the PPP server, what ever that represents.
Is that before or after the DSLAM?
Regards Jonathan

Good morning Jonathan,
The PPP server is the TCP/IP "Point to Point Protocol" server at Orange itself.
The DSLAM is the ADSL multiplexer in the exchange into which your phone
line is connected roughly speaking. The PPP server is way after the DSLAM
at the remote end of the wide area network.
I get the PPP dropouts and reconnect to reestablish my session.
I use a Speedtouch 330 "Frog" modem, not a Livebox.
My ADSL itself has been stable; it's just the Orange server sessions that
fail sometimes. I suspect that stale PPP sessions are timed out if the session
has been idle for a while, to free up idle resources on overstretched servers.
Only conjecture, however.
I am having exactly the same nightly drop outs. No service over the bank holiday and nothing after 5pm. Though last night it didn't drop out till 10pm. I am on the Bexley exchange.

Just this second found that my PPP server session had barfed.
This was when I was back at the PC after leaving it idle whilst
consuming an excellent turkey spag bol. I was able to reconnect
and log back on immediately.
Thanks Ray,
The trouble I have is failure of service. The live box seems to connect with the exchange since I get a information on how the broad connection is up and yet the PPP Server has failed; so no internet connection.
Just recently I get loss of service in the evening, back on at 5am or so, which would go along with the failure occuring at high load times across the Orange network. So whatever my line conditions are untill Orange fix the problems upstream of the exchange my service will not improve. I'm not sure Orange perceive a problem.
What do you think I can do? From reports spending time on contacting a call centre will be unrewarding.
Regards Jonathan

so ingestion of "excellent turkey spag bol" fixes the problem
For the last two weeks I have had nightly drop outs, given that's when I'm home that is nigh on complete failure; I have a day job.

Same here, no internet for me during the evening for the past few days since Monday. East London, Poplar exchange. Only just came back on here around 7am...
I was 'Upgraded' on the 12th May and ever since then, my connection would drop in and out every evening between the hours of 8pm and 5am.
After numerous calls to the 'zombies' I have been told that there is a problem with my line. I have been dropped to a 2meg connection and am supposedly waiting for updates from BT who are managing the line problem. It seems little too convenient that before moving to the 'upgraded' Orange network I never had any line problems.
I now have a 0.5 mb connection which is stable but insufficient since I was happily on a 5mb connection before the upgrade.
I have decided that hey just can't do it and am sick of being told to call back in 24 / 48 hours for an update that clearly will not Be Broadband.
I will be moving onto their 'FREE' packages so that I can leave without penalty.
It is a new feature that we have set up that will give customers some documentation to support their claims that a contract is not being fulfilled on the part of the supplier, in this case Orange.
It may, just may, help you get away with your cancellation fee - and if it does (or doesn't), please do let us know.
It is probably best to record speeds 3-4 times a day (e.g. peak and non-peak times) over at least a week (or more), then print off the results (which appear in a table and a graph) and send them to Orange with a letter of complaint.
We completely agree that it is not fair having to pay a cancellation fee for a service which you are not receiving (or a service that does not meet the product's description) which is why we are now starting to push this issue.
We also understand that this takes a couple of minutes out of your day to do this, so we have made the process as simple as possible. We are looking for feedback for this feature and would be grateful to hear from you telling us what you think.
As far as complete disconnections are concerned, log them as 0 speed when you get back on-line... Use the next speed test link and make sure you log the speed after too (i.e. use the same speed test link for both!).

Interesting I've never had a turkey spag bol before is it nice?

Steve & Verrier,
Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been out all day.
Yeah, I thought I'd try turkey mince instead of beef because of the fat issue.
I made the switch a few months ago.
I think it IS nice, especially when I try another helping after a day
or so of storing it in the fridge. The meat soaks up the sauce by then.
If you want the recipe, I'll see you in "Techies Corner"
