Just installed a BB starter package (USB Modem)for a friend who lives about 500 yards from my house.
His speed 2meg my speed on BB livebox free package with mobile phone 1meg
So out of curiosity I phoned CS and asked why,
We are on the same exchange (small rural village)
Same green BT roadside box, although in different directions, but same same distance from box
We live on a newer estate so all our cabling is newer,
I know others on our estate are on 2meg but with different providers
CS told me that when i set up the account that it was fixed at 1 meg and why dont you try upgrading to unlimited and then you might get a better speed.
I have an old BT speedster and am going to give it a try, what do you all think?
Check your current setup on http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks, see what the report shows, if it indicates MTU/RWIN changes then run DR TCP.
I honestly have no problems now with emails, connection speeds and accessing web pages since running DR TCP, using OpenDNS and using smtp IP 193.252.22.138. Here's my current speed, apparently my exchange is capable of 6.5Mb :
N.B. I don't use Livebox, I have a Belkin F5D7633 wireless modem/router.

I was waiting for that. I have a fairly new Dell computer 1478 was the figure that was already there (I do not know why) and I have never changed it.
Also I was not sure what my RWIN was because depending where you looked there were 2 different values.
The other day when DNS went down, before I realised I started changing MTU but then put it back. My connection is stable at around a speed of 6 on LLU. That is the speed I would expect so there is no real point in changing. I did however change the RWIN.
