I've been with this broadband service for years since the freeserve/wanadoo days and have hardly had a problem during those times.
Recently my connection has gone up from 512k to 4mbps for no apparent reason. This has been the beginning of my problems.
The speed increase has lead to my internet connection being disconnected for no apparent reason while on the net, it can sometimes be on for just half a minute before being discconnected the longest i've had it stay on for was roughly 2 hours.
I have no idea what is wrong with my internet connection, but I know it's got something to do with the speed increase because before the speed increase my connection was working fine.
Hope someone can help me out who has had similiar problems.
Thanks
Because of changes that Orange have been implementing, the settings that used to work on your computer, probably now don't and that's why you are experiencing problems.......but don't expect Orange to tell you this.
Unlikely to be a DNS/MTU issue. Does the ADSL light or @ light start flashing when you lose connection? If so that it means it's losing the signal so the first place to start would be by checking your setup, cables, filters etc.
Yes it does seem that the green asdl light seems to be flashing once I disconnect.
I also get it flashing even when I'm not connected to the internet, which seems to suggest something with the line. I wonder if there is some sort of test I can carry out to test out my line?
My suggestion is to leave Orange ASAP and go to a real ISP.
When people leave Orange the so called 'line faults' reported by this disgrace of a company mysteriously disappear immediately.
This is what happened to me - disconnections then no service for 2 weeks.
as soon as I moved to Idnet there was never a rpbolem since. Never once lost the connection in 8 months now.
I am on 2mb and since my exchange moved to LLU I have had exactly the same problems with disconnections, India etc!! I wrote to the main office and since then I have had a call every 1 or 2 weeks from someone in Orange. They are very nice and ask if the service is any better!! I always reply no. Today she said that they had been told there would be some improvements to the service and they would be completed by June 15th. Has anyone else heard this? Do you think there is any chance it is true? She has given me my MAC code and I am waiting to see when to move away from Orange.
It is true that there are some improvements coming in, due by the 15th. These are however more bandwidth so if you're getting disconnections it's unlikely to help with that at all.
I thought there was going to be an increase in 'capacity' so I assumed it might help. I assumed the slow speeds and occasional disconnections, at peak times, was due to not enough capacity?
