Signed up with wanadoo had no problems for 2 weeks, the all of a sudden i didnt have any connection what so ever, rang wanadoo, before i had said anything they said "you do know that you are in a 12 month contract", then i was told that a line check was needed and to ring back 2 hours later, i rang back and was told that there was a fault on my line but they couldnt give me any more details and to ring back in 24 hours, i rang back and was told that no update was avaliable and to ring back in 24 hours.. this started to really annoy me.. rang back a few days later and was told that the fault had been fixed, i said that i still had no connection they then said that it was my fault and that i had not connected up correctly, i said that i had no problems for the 1st 2 weeks...just to please them i ran through the installation setup with them on the line, i had done this a number of times...they then decided that another line check was needed.. rang back 24 hours later , no update avaliable, left it for a few more days and rang back to be told that there was a possible fault but they didnt know what...this had been going on for 3 weeks..rang tech support again and was told to go in so many different files, in the end nothing was achieved and after the operator had put me on hold for 5 mins she came back and said that she couldnt help me and to ring back 24 hrs later... this really annoyed me so i rang customer services and asked to cancel my contract as they hadnt been providing me a service, i was told that it would cost £170 to cancel.
Rang tech support the next day and was told that another line check was needed....funny i thought that they were doing one .. i was told that was closed..
Ive had no service for 4-5 weeks by know..
Rang BT Friday and asked them to do a line check to see what was on my line and was told only the phone line, so i signed up for BT Broadband there and then..
Called wanadoo Customer services and told them they were liars and that they were not on my line and that i wanted to cancel my contract, but was told that i couldnt do that as i was in a 12 month contract, this really pi**ed me of as the bloke on the end of the line didnt really offer any answers as to why they were "providing a service" when all along they werent.
Recieved by modem from BT on wednesday and i am completely happy..
well if BT wre abel to provide you with adsl without a MAC it proves Wanadoo had never activated broadband on your line. On the other hand activation isn't instant and can take a couple of weeks.

I'm sorry to disagree. It sounds as if Wanadoo broadband was on Koopz's line for two weeks and then someone did something at the exchange to remove it e.g. disconnecting it from Wanadoo's LLU box.
AFAIK Koopz should be able to cancel the contract as Wanadoo have broken it by not supplying the service or rectifying the fault in a timely manner. Wanadoo may then want to sue whoever disconnected Koopz's connection to them, but that isn't Koopz's problem as his contract was with Wanadoo. For proper advice Koopz should ask a solicitor or post on the uk.legal.moderated newsgroup.
business`s are very careful around subjects such as this... but unfortunately i dont believe you could cancel as you will have agreed to the terms and conditions when you insalled the software on the system.....
i have read this exhaustively and there are certain clauses in it... i reccomend you read things like this in the future..

In general a contract cannot remove your legal rights. Koopz should speak to a proper solicitor or ask on uk.legal.moderated
