I am being told by several sources that e-mails to me business account with Orange are being bounced back to them. 5 minutes later they can sent the same e-mail and it gets through. I am now getting about two reports of this a day!!!! I dread to think how much work I am losing. I am told that the senders receive the following when they try to e-mail me:-

SMTP error from remote server after transfer of mail text:
host mail-in.freeserve.com[193.252.22.186]:
550 Error: Message content rejected
Highlighted the important parts, when the messages are being sent the remote server it's going to, being named freeserve, is rejecting the message. Thats due to something in the subject or body of the message being flagged up, most likely some sort of slightly over zealous spam filter. If you can get hold of the original messages they might shed some light on what could be getting flagged if you can compare some.

Thanks I have got hold of about 10 of the messages (they send them through again) and there is no link. I first I thought it was because they were replies to my mail which had my website on the bottom, but as e-mails are being bounced that have been started from scratch this can't be the case. One e-mail just said 'hope your husband is better soon' and a single name and even that bounced.
i did wonder about over zealous spam filters. I do use spamfighter, but this just puts them in my spam box and doesn't bounce. This wasn't a problem until Orange took over and I used spamfighter well beter then. Now it appears to be getting worse.
Well from another post on here there was a case where using "lottery" in the subject caused it to be rejected. It's probably similar to that with just a very common spam word getting caught.
Spam has been getting worse and people don't seem to like the old approach of accept all and then filter as many still got through. So it looks like they've taken a proactive approach to try and prevent some spam even coming in in the first place. The problem with that is spam trys to appear normal and often somewhat random in order to try and get through. The harder it is to detect the easier non-spam can get caught out by the filters.
If the sender Leaves the subject line blank, or types the subject line text all in CAPITALS, from recent experience they more often than not are getting returned with the '550 content rejected' failed message.
I also have had this problem over the last two weeks. Friends ring me and it seems in my case it is when they use "Reply to sener" in Outlook Express. As far as I can judge (don't know how many never get to me though) if they send using a new message (as opposed to replying to me)the message failure to deliver does not happen. The failed messages have no dodgy titles or content that any spam filter could object to.
This problem is also affecting me. Since Orange appeared, I'm constantly being bounced from Yahoo Groups with the *remote host said: 550 content rejected* message. It's not always the same group that is affected, and it only happens every few days, so I am pretty sure it is not just a problem of content of message header or posting by the Return button, as some people have suggested. It's also intermittent.
Yesterday I also started to get reports from customers that their individual emails were being returned.
I sent a fax to Orange a month ago but they haven't replied. Because it affects my work, it is very serious, and there seems to be no solution. So I am also interested in any other solutions anybody might have. If I get a reply from Orange I will report to this group.

In my case
(see http://reynoldsbooks.blog.com/...1569433/ )
it was messages starting "Re:" that were blocked repeatedly over a period of weeks, specifically ones responding to my email mailing list (which reached Orange customers just fine) and headed "Re: New Listings".
1) I phoned Orange (got several pieces of totally crazy advice);
2) complained through the Orange website (they agreed that something in my emails to Orange customers was being blocked but didn't say what); and
3) wrote a letter (they referred me to totally irrelevant Knowledge Base articles and when I wrote back saying so they said phone us)

Subject: {Subject Title}

Variation 1:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<{Issuing Server} #5.5.0 smtp;550 Error: Message content rejected>
Variation 2:
address@domain.com on {Date] {Time} {Time Zone}
The message contains a content type that is not supported
<{Issuing Server} #5.6.0 smtp;554 5.6.0 Message rejected by content filter (UndisclosedRecipients)>
Explanation:
This non-delivery report provides the relevant information about the email and the error which has occurred. The {Issuing Server} is not always the server that the error has occurred at but rather the server that issued the error message to the 'Sender'.
The phrase "Error: Message content rejected." and "Message rejected by content filter" indicate the cause. The errors are self explanatory, the recipients server has rejected the email based on the message content. This normally indicates that the email contains words, phrases or attachments which have been rejected by the recipients anti-spam system. The server may have legitimately blocked the email due to its content, blocked the email based on an poorly created anti-spam rule or indicate a significant problem with the anti-spam system.
Conclusion & Action Required:
The sender should contact the recipient to inform them of the issue, if the sender does not believe that the email contains anything which may be considered as a commonly used spam or virus phrase.
The recipient should contact their service provider to enquire as to the cause of the error.
LITTLE GOOD THAT LAST PIECE OF ADVISE WILL DO WITH Orange

I also have the problem that some of my friends report that email is bounced. Not all. I have reported it to Orange and they sent me to the useless advice notes. I reported it by the email help and got a reply from them - That one got through-
So now every time one of my friends sends me an email repeat of the failure I will forward it to Orange customer support.
Otherwise if I phone them and ask for a reduction in my charges because of lost service, or to terminate my contract because they are not fulfilling their side of it, Will I get a response?
After lots of emails and phone calls to the "Orange Helpline" should be "NoHelpline" I got this back from them yesterday - We understand the situation you are facing.
