For the past 3/4 months, I have had many problems, every 2 or 3 days with my connection. Whether it be 8Mb upgrade, or just work on the line, I have been plagued with reasons to call India.
My latest problem is one centering around the connection at my end (or so i am told). My @ light is constantly on, but after about 5 minutes of being online there is no connection according to my system tray screens. If I unplug my cat 5 cable (from live box to pc) and replug in, the computer knows its been unplugged, then re-establishes the connection for a further 5 mins. Then it does the same thing. I have also tried factory reset, which sometimes does nothing at all to my connection. Sometimes its fine for hours, but not at the moment. My evenings are currently occupied by going from pc to live box, unplugging and replugging cables, only hoping that it will work.
The reason Orange are telling me that its my fault is that there seems to be a network bridge running the connection. I only run through a hard wired connection, so shouldnt need one. It set up automatically when installing the package, and has only given me problems since the 8Mb upgrade.
Can anyone PLEASE help?

Sounds as though the Livebox is connected to internet because of solid light, leave it alone. The problem is with the computer and networking.
TO TEST NETWORK CONNECTION:
Are you sure that you have a nextwork card in the computer - I know it sounds daft - but they look very similar to modems. As you say it has worked I will presume it is a network card.
(Start - All Programs - Accessories)
Open Command Prompt
Ping 192.168.1.1 -t
Control C to stop
For info purposes this command does a continuous loopback ping to the router. Without the -t it only does it 4 times. Its a means of quickly checking connectivity between PC and router.
If no connection will say:
Destination host unreachable.
Check into Network Connections through the control panel. Double click your local area connection. What status does it show? If connected go into the support tab, what does it show in there?
You could also right click the connection and repair it.
There could be a problem with network cable - try another one. Also if you are in the red socket on the Livebox try the yellow one.
There could be a problem with network card or drivers - first try re-installing drivers - re-boot computer.
If still no luck I would physically take network card out of computer - re-boot computer, then turn off. Re-install network card and allow XP to to find and install it.
I have already pinged, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.
I am actually on line now, after waiting 20mins for it to work again. As i said previously, the connection comes and goes but my @ light stays on. The Indian techies say its my network bridge, but it was working up until the 8Mb upgrade.
I dont really believe anything they say anyway. One admitted to me last week that they just read off a card, and she didnt even know what a network bridge was!!! Then told me to pay for a technician to come and have a look. After the phone call i factory resetted and it worked straight away. For a bit.
I thought it may be the cable, but if that was the case then how come it knows when its unplugged. It seems to know its connected, but just cant do anything.
I thought i might just uninstall Orange, and re-install...?

I'm sure Orange part is ok. Just taking the network card out and putting it back quite often helps - I'm presuming it is a desk top.
I think it was Elhana that came up with the following:
PROBLEMS WITH NETWORK
There's also the option of forcing the IP address but if it can't get it on DHCP this usually doesn't work either, though can in some situations.
Open network connections,
Go into the properties for the ethernet connection,
Highlight Internet Protocol and click properties,
Change to use the following and enter as below:
Primary DNS - 195.92.195.94
Secondary DNS - 195.92.195.95
When you do this it will show as connected even if it's not. Do another ipconfig to make sure the settings have taken and then try and ping/open in internet explorer "192.168.1.1". If it doesn't work change them back to the automatic options it was previously set to.
