Just reading through the blogs on these OrangeProblems pages - I am sure that MANY people have expienced the VERY poor service offered by Orange Customer Services AND the Technical Helpline.
My previous ISP was Tiscali. I usually had a steady 2Mb connection speed.
I wanted to increase my connection speed and contacted Orange to enquire about what speeds to expect and what the cost would be.
I was initialy advised by an Orange Broadband sales representative that my telephone line had been tested and I could expect a connection speed in excess of 6MB.
I was also advised that if I were to pay extra for an { up-to } 8Mb connection speed, my monthly downloads would not be limited.
I obtained a MAC code from Tiscali - gave this to Orange - WAITED for over one month - NOTHING !
I again contacted Orange - they said "Oh - yes - er - we seem to have missed the boat on this one ! - you will now have to contact Tiscali AGAIN - because the MAC code has expired"
Wonderfull !
I went through all of that again - I passed on the new MAC code to Orange - WAITED a bit more - Then - BINGO !
When I finally received my Orange LiveBox - the installation was a complete NIGHTMARE.
The CD would not function correctly - MANY COSTLY phone calls later - I completed the installation MANUALLY.
Apparently - Orange IS AWARE that the installation CD has problems with ActiveX software - yet they still send the faulty CD's out to new customers - AMAZING !
THEN - I find that my connection speed is ABYSMAL !
SO - BACK TO THE HELPLINES ........
This has proved to be a total waste of time and money !
I have now been trying to resolve my problem with Orange's very slow connection speed for over one month. MANY COSTLY phone calls to thier Technical helpline have resulted in absolutely NOTHING !
To cap it all.....Orange advise me { VERY SMUGLY } that I must pay £50.00 to break my contract with them - BEFORE - they will issue a MAC code to allow me to escape from their TERRIBLE service.
What Contract ? Who signed anything ? Who has broken a contract here ?
WE WILL SEE WHAT THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING and the ISPA HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT.
WARNING - EVERYBODY - Please beware of Orange Broadband - The connction is very poor and unreliable - The Helplines are NOT helpful - Orange do NOT maintain a Helpline for the LiveBox - they contract this out to a Pay-As You-Talk Helpline - IN INDIA !
PS - I suspect that my warning will go unheeded - as anyone reading this MUST surely be looking for help now - Its too late NOW !

I know it's easy to be wise after the event, but did it not set a few alarm bells ringing when they made a dogs breakfast of the migration process?
With reference to the Active X/CD issue, when I rang the Technical helpline to tell them the installation CD didn't work, they said they would send another one. Fortunately, they did tell me how to do it manually(oo-er missus!).
