Hi everyone
Can anyone help please ..... I signed up with Orange in March 2007 everything started great recieved my livebox and up and running no problems but then 4 weeks ago couldnt connect so rang Orange was told they would do a line test after going through a series of tests with them on my livebox was told to ring them back after 48 hours. I have now rang Orange a total of 17 times over 4 weeks. Ive been told now that they have a problem with the line and will fix it asap i am pulling my hair out with frustration I told them I was cancelling my contract and was told if I did then I would have to pay an early cancellation fee of £99.99. Is this right ? I have recieved a migration code from them but Im afraid to sign up with anyone else because of the cancellation fee. As they have not provided me with the service that I am still paying for can I cancel without owing them the fee. The contract was for 12 months. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Same problem for me, I have spent in excess of £30 on calls to Orange. Some smarmy 'customer care' person told me that they are supplying me with an 'up to 8 meg' service; I am getting about 240 kb and apparantly that's good enough.

Are you sure that your PC's not at fault? I would suggest that you get someone in who knows what they are doing to check your setup before talking about cancelling your Orange contract. IMHO most customer problems with internet providers are not within the remit of the provider to resolve - ie customer 'finger trouble'. Having said that Orange have a track record of f**k ups in this respect so it could well be their fault. Get your setup checked out first though.
Good advice although im sure if it was their set up it wouldn't have worked in the first place
IMHO if someone threatens you for the balance of a contract then a written report from a third party expert supporting your contention that you satisfied all the applicable terms and conditions of the contract - ie in this case that your system was correctly configured - would nullify any potential claim against you. I certainly wouldn't institute court action against someone if I had been provided with such a defence. Having said that, we are talking about a company here that is run by a bunch of pig ignorant greedy low life so who can say what they would do.
