Hi. Been with Orange for 12 months...Web connection fine (I'm a lite user) until this week when access just randomly "drops out". Livebox says connection is still up but Livebox phone has gone and there's no data via the Net. Time of day doesn't appear to be significant.
Looks like either :-
1. exchange is overrun (how do I check this?) or
2. Orange has too many subscribers and is time-sharing access to the internet or
3. an intermittent fault has developed at my end.
You said the livebox phone goes, does the phone just not work, give a message or the phone light go out?
Does turning the livebox off and on when this happens get it working again or just not help?
The phone light goes out on the Livebox. Recylcing power on the Livebox does not make a difference. No Internet data exchanged today at all. Livebox says...
You are currently : Connected to Internet
Your IP address is : 84.65.198.208
Your Current Broadband connection has been established for : 10 minutes
Just no data at all. Ah phone light has just gone on.
Looks like our exchange limit has been reached or Orange has too many customers today. ?! (Using dial up 1st time for 2 years)
Go through Start and click run,
type in "command" and ok it to get to a dos prompt,
type in:
ping 216.239.39.99
You ideally want to see 4 replies to show it's working,
if not then you're going to need to call Orange so things can be tested to fix the problem.
It was one of the IP's for google, seems like it's changed since I last used it as it's not working here either.
If it does the same again try this one instead:
216.239.59.99

My internet is working this morning. Livebox reports DNS servers as 195.92.195.90/91
Odd, never seen those used before and they're neither of the pairs used for manually setting them. Main thing is that they work though.
