I always get connection problems during the evening where the connection cuts out, Speedtouch icon on the taskbar goes yellow, the lights on the modem blink for a bit, then the icon goes green again and the lights stop blinking, and I have to reconnect. It's as if I pulled the modem out and put it back in, and it's annoying, but I think it might be LLU related.
However, recently around 20:00 each night I get a problem where it won't reconnect no matter what I do. When I try to connect using Speedtouch, the window either goes 'The authentication process...' or 'Verifying username and password...' then just sticks there for about thirty seconds. Then it stops and comes up with 'The remote server failed to respond in a timely manner.' (Possibly not exact quote, this is off memory.)
I can try and connect over and over and that is all that happens. Troubleshooting using Dr Speedtouch just tells me there's no PPP and to check my username/password is correct (on a sidenote, that program is incredibly useless!)
If I try 'ipconfig/release' or 'ipconfig/renew' I get the message that 'The operation failed as no adapter is currently in the state permissible for this operation'.
It usually sorts itself out by the morning, but it is very annoying when I do most of my homework at night.
I'm on the Bromley exchange and use a Speedtouch 330, and have been a victim of the dreaded 8MB upgrade...And no, switching broadband is not an option. It's my parents' house.
Hi, I get exactly the same problem. I live about 300mts fron the Mile End exchange and about 5.30 to 6.00 the connection starts to drop it then about 7.30 to 8.00pm I lose connection to the server (it says server failiing to respond). As with you in the morning when I am off to work everything is ok again !! I spoke in length to tech support but they were no help at all. This happens every night like clockwork and I suspect the weekends are going the same way. When a lot of users try to use the server it seems it cannot cope.
Welcome to the woderful world of Orange........The futures bright the futures oh cr** I've lost my internet again !!
Hi
I am in Greenwich and suffer from the same problem. It would seem from reading other posts that we are not alone. What is going on?So far I have not had too many problems, but if this keeps up I am off to greener fields.
Yes I find the same problem, it can only be an exchange problem. I'v tried the livebox and a vigor mdem.

*sigh* It's still doing it, and getting earlier now. Last night it was down at about 6PM... still down at about 11PM... and yeah, it's fine in the morning. =__=
Is everyone else getting the stuck on 'Authorising' or 'Verifying' stage while connecting, and 'PPP Disconnected' on the Status?
I'm in AS Levels at the moment, so I really need the internet at the moment... why NOW of all times?!
