Just found this site and thought someone may be able to help me even though I'm signed up to Orange/Wanadoo in France.
Unfortunately we live in an area where ADSL (Broadband) is not available so are restricted to dial-up.
For the past few months some of our emails do not arrive at the other end (although show as 'sent' in OE) but also we often receive 'message undeliverable' messages from servers/spam killers for messages we have NOT sent.
Bottom line is we can now never be sure our messages are being received. What's more frustrating is when we receive a message from someone asking why we haven't replied to a first email... one we haven't received.
My anti-virus & spyware can't find anything and we currently ask for 'read receipt's for all mail, sending a follow-up email the next day to anyone who hasn't returned it. Time consuming and annoying, especially on dial-up!!
Anyone heard of this problem before, got any ideas what it is or have a possible solution to it? Thanks in advance.

Hi Greeny-
My reply may not help with your problem but you are certainly not alone. I have been missing emails and having exactly the same frustration as you since the Orange takeover.
However having followed some advice kindly given on this site I changed my POP to orangehome.co.uk from wanadoo.co.uk (I have a fsnet email address). As soon as I did the change I had a flood of 665 emails come in
going back nearly a year. My important missing emails were all there. most of them from overseas and from Hotmail addresses.
My email service went off on the evening of Saturday 5th May and I still have no outgoing email on any server.
Thanks for the reply, Dogsbody, strangely enough (although I hadn't thought of it before!) my problems started around the time 'wanadoo.fr' became 'orange.fr'!
I do not know much about the technical side of things, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what is an fsnet email address?
Is "orangehome.co.uk" the new name for what was "wanadoo.co.uk"? If so perhaps by changing my wanadoo address here to the new Orange one, my problems might end too? (and perhaps find where my lost mail is!).
I'll have to look into how to do it though and when you don't speak French that well, trying to follow technical instructions ain't easy!!
Any advice on the best way to change over would be gratefully received!

Hi again Greeny,
I originally signed up with Freeserve in 2001 so have one of their email addresses (fsnet.co.uk).
I wouldn't presume to give you any technical advice but do spend some time reading back through the Topics on this Forum as quite a few very able people have offered info on changing your email settings for the Orange servers. Try reading through the "Problems sending emails" Topic list first.
I'll have a look through thr topic but don't know how much difference there is between the UK & French setup at Orange.
Did you request the change of your POP or just create a new postbox with Orange? I have set up a new post box with the "oranger.fr" suffix which seems to be working OK.
Howeverave tried sending a message to my wanadoo name using "orange.fr" as a suufix and get an error message retrned saying that the name is unknown. So being crafty I thought I'll create that address so that I can transfer over to it, but Orange then tells me I can't use it as it's already taken!
I've looked all through their French site looking for the way to convert from Wanadoo to Orange but can find nothing on it. However I can ring their helpline at 30p a minute for advice not on the website... er I THINK NOT!! They get enough out of me already.
I pay 25 euros a month for unlimited dial up at an average speed of 2-3kbs and they charge less than that for their basic Broadband package.
One other thing I did notice was that when I upgraded to their latest software, my connection settings would often mysteriously change from the unlimited access telephone number to their cost per minute number. So although I thought the connection was costing me nothing I in fact had a hefty bill at the end of the month! When I re-installed the older version the problem stopped! Wish I knew how to dissect their programme codes to see if an "error" had been made which caused this. I wonder how much they make on this???
I have been with Orange since Freeserve started, but I changed my email address from freeserve.co.uk to a fslife.co.uk email address a few years ago too, but no matter what server I use freeserve/wanadoo/orangehome I still get this damn intermittent sending of email problem, so I am now moving all of my details over to gmail and that works perfectly through Windows Mail.
I am however still keeping an eye on the Orange emails, just to see how long this fiasco is going to last for - it has already been well over 2 months!!!!
