Have installed my laptop via the installation CD using the ethernet cable then the wireless connection. This has worked is is working fine, however now I want to connect my Pc via the Ethernet cable the installation disc keeps telling me to turn my firewall off.
I have checked this is off but it still happening??
Since you've connected your system has installed the lasted flash player which is preventing the CD from running correctly.
You don't need to actually run it though as it's already set to go by the sounds of it. Just plug the ethernet cable in and after a few seconds it should be working.
Ok then, when the cable is plugged in, within network connections does the local area connection show connected?
Is the @ light on the livebox solid or flashing?
Can you access 192.168.1.1 through interent explorer if so how about 216.239.39.99 and www.google.com?
Ok, go to network connections and double click on your local area connection. Go into the support tab. What does it say for the address type and IP address?
Now things are starting to fit together a bit more.
That address is generated by windows when it can't get an address from the livebox. Basically it means there's a communication problem between the box and your pc and it could potentially be a port on the box itself or the PC's network port.
Try the ethernet cable in the other port on the livebox so either swap from yellow to red or red to yellow.
For each thing tried wait a minute then check the address type and IP by double clicking the connection in network connections and going to the support tab. What you're wanting to see is:
Address Type - Assigned by DHCP
IP Address - 192.168.1.xxx
xxx should be between 9 and 200.
If you see this then it should all be working and you can get webpages.
You said you have a laptop that started on ethernet and then went wireless that had no trouble? That would suggest it's the PC or the ethernet port causing the trouble. There's a couple more things to try though they're a little more complicated.
Click Start and then Run,
In the box type in the following line exactly:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Click Ok and you should see a black window come and go,
Restart the PC and check the details above.
Last option.
Go to network connections,
Right click and select properties,
Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list and click properties,
Select the options for use the following IP and DNS and enter the details below:
Could this be causing any problems? and why is he on 400.0 Mbps and the other 100.0 Mbps?
Shouldn't be, they're just firewire connections. Usually used by video camera connections and a few other items. You could disable them if you like as not many people use those connections. I have 2 and never had any need to use them and probably never will.

If its my ethernet card or driver how would I go about updating or reinstalling the drivers?
Not really done much of that myself although updating drivers is usually fairly easy if you can get the information. You just need to check the manufacturer/chipset makers website for the latest, download and run it.

Why is it saying when I try to run the Livebox disc the result is TURN YOUR FIREWALL OFF AND TRY AGAIN? Would this happen if it was what you sugguest?
Thats likely just down to Flash Player 9. It was an update to flash that means the Orange CD doesn't run how it's supposed to. You can remove it from add/remove programs if you wish so you can run the CD. Not that it'll help with this problem. Flash should just ask to update next time you visit a site using it.
