I have just moved house to the north west of England. This also meant a new broadband connection to the new location. I chose Orange because of the phone and £5.00 charge for unlimited broadband, free VoIP calls to land lines and Orange mobiles etc. I did not go down this road without first reading about the Orange Broadband service, the general consensus was that it was not very good, but as my mobile is with Orange I decided to give it a go and if it was a poor service then I would cancel and change provider.
Well I am very surprised and very happy with the package, I live in an area where there is little chance of LLU in the foreseeable future, and unfortunately it is also a good distance from the exchange so a solid 2meg connection is all I can hope for, and so far this has been very reliable and constant.
Two weeks passed but the VoIP phone was not activated, so after reading many threads on this forum I took Elhana’s advice and emailed support with my modem details, 24 hours later I was hooked up, the service appears to work flawlessly, the clarity of the calls is outstanding, it appears that I may have been very lucky with this service as many people on here and other forums are less than happy with Orange, but speak as you find, this has been a good move for me.
Now a couple of questions:
Can I change the primary and secondary DNS servers to point to the opendns servers (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) instead of the Orange DNS severs (192.92.195.91 and 192.92.195.90), and if so how? I can’t seem to figure this out in the router.
Secondly, how much do other people pay for calls to use my new 0845 number? I have read some conflicting stories on the net today assuming that the low rate 0845 number is slightly more expensive than a proper localised number, and if that is the case then would it be a good idea to change this to a geographical number?

You can't change them in the livebox itself but you can change them on each PC.
Go into network connections through the control panel,
Right click the connection you're using usually either local area connection or wireless,
Select properties,
Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) but don't untick it,
Click the properties button,
Change the lower option to use the following and enter your the two DNS server addresses you're got for opendns,
Ok and close windows until you're back to the desktop.

As far as I can tell it varys between about 0.5p - 4.5p per minute depending on network, call package, time of day, etc.
