After loads of emails suggesting I reinstall this that and the other, they have finally confirmed the following:

My email still only works intermittently, and has done for weeks, but at least I know I'm not going mad.

THE WE VALUE OUR CUSTOMERS, bit is total B******S
the W******s can even speek english never mind sort out any problems
they will tell you to retry re install every time you ring them .
i had problems and they only took notice when i said i had reported them to OFCOM :shock
There is no definition that I know to the term. Generally it would be assumed to refer to receiving email as they go through a "pop" server however with all the problems it's more likely to refer to sending email.

After a complete run around from the phone based customer support I also got the same admission, after weeks of intermitent servie. This is just not good enough as it has just gone down again and clearly thier engineeers are not acheiving anything. Its a good job my phone contract that is linked to my broadband contract is no longer tying me in to Orange and I can set about trying to find a more professional ISP.
I have the same problem for weeks now as has my brother and 2 neighbours. If Orange have a problem they know who all their customers are it would be nice if they emailed us and explained what is happening
