This is my first post as you can see. We have been having problems with Orange(obviously no suprise by reading on here)since upgrading to a live box and the 8mb service. Before that, was relatively happy on a 4mb wanadoo service.
The first couple of weeks seemed to be ok. Then we experienced a Sunday night of PPP server down, which was recitified during the night.
After a couple more of these sporadic issues. We encountered a longer spell of PPP server down. Which kind of fits in with some of the experiences on here.
Now we have had service from the 27th April, or a little bit earlier. But the speeds are absolutely diabolical. 160 k/s etc...Never much higher than that, even at off peak times. Though funnily the upstream has always remained a consisten 240 k/s.
I've been looking at the stats of the livebox, and the attainable download rate has been as high as 19200, or as low as it is now 1920.

From your stats it looks like you are on Oranges LLU. This means your exchange uses oranges equipment and not BT's. there are lots of forum posts in this section regarding LLU and disconnections/slow speed.
Attenuation suggest you're on a pretty short line.
Margin is pretty high meaning there should be plenty of scope for higher speeds. However the attainable is only slightly higher than the actual downstream, I'd expect it to be a fair bit higher normally.
Is it possible to try a friends modem/router as it could show a problem with the livebox.
As for upload, as it's a lot lower than the downstream it's almost always effected by problems to a much lesser degree.
