Have been using Orange for almost 8 months or so - at the start i was flying around with some of the quickest speeds i have ever used on a home connection!
but.......In the past 4 months (ish) the speed has got worse and today i have snapped! Its painfully slow - im waiting 10 sseconds just to open bbc.com. I have read through some posts and done some speed tests and im pretty sure i have some problems but cant quite determine whats best to do. Could someone please advise!
Im using a 3com ADSL wireles 11g firewall router.

Same here, but I was on ADSL Max with Orange and was getting great speeds. Then they put me on their LLU service, like yourself, and I'm lucky to get better than 2 Meg download speed and in the evening it makes dialup look fast.
Your best bet is to move to another provider when your current contract expires
Sound advice atce! Or you could pester them with costly phone calls, emails, smoke signals, cries for help to the ISPA and numerous 'official' bodies until your health starts to wane...
