Hey folks,
I have a problem that I am not really sure if it is Orange/Livebox related or Windows Vista or a combination. Note that I have the seem problem both at my house and at my girlfriends, both on Orange broadband.
Since upgrading to Vista on my laptop (and on my girlfriends new Vista desktop), I have problems with a few webpages. An example is when I log on to www.tradedoubler.co.uk. More often than not, once I have entered my id and password on the login screen the following screens have the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Sometimes it is the first page and sometimes a subsequent page. Sometimes the page starts to load and be displayed and then is replaced by the error page. I am using IE 7 and have also tried using Firefox, but the error is still present. A strange thing is that if I use my work laptop (Win XP) I can view the page which leads me away from thinking it is not an O/Livebox issue unless it is the way Vista interacts with it.
Anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Andy.

Possibly an MTU setting in Vista is too high for the router? The software I would have thought should not make any difference on a correctly configured system
Well it could be an MTU thing but it sounds like something on the PC itself causing it. Especially if it partially loads a page and then gives an error. Seen that a couple of times myself and just accounted it to a temporary browser problem or site popups.
Thanks for replies. Using the Tradedoubler example, my lapotop viewed the site fine before I updated to Vista and also my girlfriend can't see the site from her house on a brand new HP desktop running Vista but could on her old pc running XP.
Only other thing I can think of is we have both upgraded to Norton 360 when we went to Vista. Could it be that?? Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Andy.

Well it could be Norton, try turning it off and then see if the same thing happens. If it then works you know the cause the Norton should be able to provide more help in locating the settings causing the problem.
