All was fine until i updated my PC with new motherboard, PSU and processor.
However since doing this my USB adapter is not detected, and only glows with a very dim light. We have 2 of these adapters and have tried both with the same result.
I contacted wanadoo and was told that not enough power was getting to the adapter and this was why it was not working, and that my new motherboard was at fault. I have now replaced my motherboard and i still have the same problem.
possibly your power supply in the PC isn't powerful enough to run everyting?
Best bet would be collaring an proper tech/engieery guy and getting them to check it all out...

My bloke built my PC, and he has built many others in the past so im quite confident everything is fitted properly.
I only have a keyboard and mouse running from my PC's USB posts.
When i unplug and then plug in the adapter my PC doesnt recognise it as 'found new hardware' however ive tried my mp3 player and camera in the same ports and it detects them fine.... so frustrated.
Hmm.. If everything else is working ok, it sounds like a duff box..
Don't suppose you could try putting the modem into a different PC?

yeah, you have tried 2 usb adaptors so it is not the adaptor that is the problem. The adaptor's take quite a lot of power from the USB ports and if you only have a dim light on the adaptor it is likely that the USB port is not providing the adaptor with enough power.
Check the adaptor on each USB port on your PC if you haven't already, and disconnect all other devices temporarily so only the adaptor is connected. Sometimes one port provides more power than another. If it's still the same check which USB chipset your pc has
(i.e. from the control panel > system > hardware > device manager > USB serial bus controllers.
If you have an intel chipset try downloading an update from http://www.intel.com (i.e. 828 chipset etc.). If something else i.e. VIA etc. check http://www.usbman.com - drivers and patches. It's a USB power issue though. If you have a USB - PCI card and its not working I'd refer it back to a manufacturer.
