I'm on the 2.2mb service using a wireless Belkin router - this has been faultless until last week Wednesday evening, when the connection speed dropped rendering it useless. Called Orange who said that I'd have to reinstall the original Speedtouch modem that I got with the original Wanadoo account, before they could help.
This I did (which sort of worked (still v slow) so went back to Belkin- no joy- incredibily slow. So after LOTs of tinkering and 2 long calls to Belkin support (which is free) Belkin is set up properly. 1 long call to Orange (which is not), they say they is no fault on the line and no reported problems in Kingston upon Thames. I've stuck with the Speedtouch modem for the last 3 days as it appears to work. However some web sites are horrendously slow to load (Telegraph, BTemail) but not all. I've run a full virus scan (Kapersky) and Adware but nothing come up. I've not tried reconnecting the Belkin. This is a bit of a pain with a laptop and wirelessness!
The only thing i can think of is that there is some issue with the channel setting on the Belkin wireless but this does not explain the slowness on the Speedtouch.
Can anybody offer any advice?
Regards
Gaunty
PS. did a Speedtest.net test on the line right after talking to Orange (and they saying there is no fault) and this came back with a upload and download speed of between 250 and 130 bps- this seems vv slow!
