I suppose I am an unusual case. Last year I won a year's free wanadoo. On the 13th April this year, I called them up explaining that I'd won another year's broadband. "The activation code can not be used to extend service, only to order a new wanadoo serive". "No problem" they said, "I will email my team leader and she will sort it out for you. You will hear from us within 5 days".
Called on 24th April for an update as I heard nothing, and was routed to India. All I got was "sorry there is nothing I can do to help you" and "in my 12 months experience, I have not had to deal with something like this before", and was preparing to say goodbye!! When I asked for my MAC code, I was routed back to the UK, and although the guy there spent a bit more time fiddling around he then finished by telling me to send my prize letter to Head Office and they may be able to do something for me. In the end I didn't ask for my MAC code again, as I needed time to calm down
My current package is supposed to equate to the broadband max + talk £27.99 service (although all I have ever had is a 1MB speed - despite being recently told I can get 6.5MB) which for a prize isn't too bad, but I still think it stinks a bit they won't upgrade my line to what they have tested and said is capable of.
Anyway Orange - it would have been nice to have been told the correct process up front on (Friday) 13th April. I was considering giving the activation code to someone else, and taking up their offer of going paid at a special rate (before I didn't ask for the MAC code again), but my experience is now making me think twice about becoming a paying customer.
