Fed up with all these money grabbing companies and corporations?
I work for a local independent PC Retail Company who have been successfully trying to stave off the likes of PC World, Dell, etc for many years, offering that personal one to one touch that our PC customers have come to know and trust.
We like many independent PC Retailers have used and promoted many different ISP's over the years, all in good faith… Well No More!
Countless times we have been let down, when these ISP’s have either died or have been bought out by seemingly uncaring larger companies, ever expanding and ever swallowing smaller ISP’s, amassing them into call centres with employees, seemingly computer novices, reading restricted scripted help screens where every answer seems to be wait and see, defer, defer, defer.
This caused us to look into and setting up our own ISP, and yes we do use larger companies for the technology and hardware, but we keep it personal, having read some of the posts from you guys I see the same fobbing off lines from the help teams that I have seen over the years, repeated over and over, and in fact we have adopted some disgruntled Wannadoo / Freeserve customers as well as other from other ISP’s.
Whilst we cant swear to solve issues with provision by tomorrow what we have seems to be a step up and in the right direction, we get most problematic cases sorted in days not months, as long as there are no problems with the telephone lines because as you all know BT control the cables etc. We have our own route to talk to BT (sorry dont ask for, as we cant disclose, not allowed to) and we have exceptional support team behind us, they are all experienced and know what they are doing, and more than that they care about us and thus we care about you!
Although it may not be the cheapest Broadband around, as you know cheap is not cheerful.
That personal touch is the exact quality we're losing to the megacorperations of modern times. I detest the 'fake plastic care' that you receive from massive companies.
Its as if they're trying to capture the essence of the small family business, without realising that by paying someone - who they don't give two hoots about - minimum wage to follow a uniform, rigid set of company policies, they're alienating the consumer, and breeding an almost opaque false image.
"Thankyou for calling 'insert company name here'. My name is Chaz. How can I help you today?" doesn't sound so good when its virtually spat through the contorted grimace of an employee who is himself disillusioned with the service your company provides.
You have my deepest respect for taking this degree of action, marcain. I like the simplicity of your site. It smacks of honesty and genuine service. The only criticism I would have would be that it might be deemed slightly sparse of information regarding your various packages.
Could you tell me if you are able to provide more than 2Mb through ADSL Max, or if you have plans to do so in the future? I would be very interested to hear more about your company.
Thank you for your reply.
Our website has been this way for a little while now, as we continue to focus on our customers rather than ourselves.
We are in the process of refreshing the content and providing more easily accessible information, but for now, most of the packages and their details are available during sign up process prior to commitment.
We are currently, like others, in the process of promoting the “up to 8MB” services depending on line test etc, although this process is going through initial testing and I will be our guinea pig as we process my account upgrade in the next couple of weeks. I will report back here for interested parties when results are in, but I do not expect any problems.
An overview of what we offer: -
Broadband Packages
We offer a range of different Broadband Accounts ½ MB, 1 MB, and 2 MB, and up to 8MB depending on condition of Line and availability in your area, tests should be carried out to indicate what service you are able to receive in your area, the 8mb service actual speed will be confirmed after activation and testing, at which time speed will be set as fast as line is capable of achieving up to 8MB, Visit our website www.pc-q.net to check ADSL availability on your number using our ADSL Checker.
Unlike most providers in the UK, PC Q offer not to tie customers into a fixed 12 month contract, one of our contract terms are one month initially with then the ability to cancel service after this initial period, giving at least one months notice in writing, should you wish to. We do however pass on all the associated costs for providing this service (activation charge, modem etc), which most other suppliers absorb (reclaimed through contract period). We also have a 12 month contracted service which like many other providers which ties you into a contract but there is no activation cost for home users on this service.
We also provide FREE onsite setup and installation but unfortunately only in a 15 mile radius from the office, we do cover areas outside this but charge £1 for each additional mile travelling to and from, sadly only up to 50 miles each way (100 Miles max), we are also able to provide, the easiest and cheapest technical help contact directly through the shop, should you need help during office hours, (no foreign call centres).
