I recently moved house on the 13th of March 2007 and did not want to be without an internet connection so I rang Orange 2 weeks before I moved so there would be no delays. I did not expect it to be up and running on day one but after a couple of days there was no connection so rang the help line to be told that nothing had been logged and that it would take another 10-15 days to be up and running. As you can guess still nothing so rang again to be informed that there was a problem with the line and it was over to BT to sort it. I've just rang this morning to be told it will now be the 9th April. This is not as bad as some problems other people have had but to me this level of service is pathetic. I use the internet for all sorts of services and my Daughter needs it for her studies. When my connection is up running I will be requesting a MAC Code and going elswhere.
UPDATE:
There was a problem with their request to BT to check my line so i am waiting another 5 days to get my Broadband up and running. I hope this works then I can get out from Orange.
Rang this morning 13th April to check iff its going to be fixed but have to ring back to check with the Provisions Team, will let you know if I get it sorted, I hope so as I don't want to get involved with some of the nightmare situations others have had to endure with Orange.
Could anyone tell me who are the Provisions Team and what do they do.
PS: Just to say THANKS for this Web Site for all the help and advice thats available.
Iff you don't have an active broadband connection can you still get a MAC Code as I was told from Orange I could not. Please advise.

Well its happened my contract with Orange has now been cancelled. Finally manage to get through at around 4pm Friday 13th only to be told it would now be the 6th May. I explained the situation yet again and was put through to the Excallations Team and when yet again explained what had happened the women was appalled at my situation. I asked that my contract be cancelled and was told it would take 30 days but after I explained that I had already been waiting 30 days she agreed and my contract was cancelled right away but would have to wait 10 days for the Marker to be taken off my line.
I rang BT to get a line check and no problem was found and even spoke to the BT engineer later that evening and according to him no communication had been received from Orange concerning my line.
Can anyone explain what is going on. I have been preparing a letter detailing these events to send to Orange and copy will be sent to OFCOM and the ISPA.
When I came accross this website I did not think for one minute that I would end up in a situation like so many dissatified Orange Customers and having no alternative but to cancell my contract.
I wil now be looking for another ISP, can anyone advise. The two that come to mind are BT and IDNET.
Sorry to hear about your problems but not at all surprised As you have just moved house and your connection didn't come up at all have Orange actually done anything to your new line? I'd be tempted to put an order in with a new isp and see what happens, most of the better rated isp's, unlike Orange, will contact you straight away if there's any problem and should help sort it out. If you haven't decided on who to go with yet http://www.dslzoneuk.net/
I moved to newnet about a month ago and certainly noticed the difference in service and speed immediately. You won't regret it Good luck.

Hi IDNet are a good ISP i was with them they know what they are on about and support is free and 1 month contract, also check UKFSN ans Entanet reseller also good with a good reputation and 1 month contract, if your exchange is Be* enabled they are worth looking at very fast 24Mbps.
Good luck with whoever you migrate too,
Regards

UPDATE
The Marker or Tag has been removed from my line and I decided to go with IDNET as you only have to have a months contract. They checked my line and everythings OK, should be set up by 23rd April. Thanks for peoples advice, did a check with BE but not available.
Have prepared my letter for Orange but will wait till IDNET are up and running then I can tell them what others can do but they can't.
Also complained to ISPA online about Orange, will see what happens.

Glad you got it sorted and you made a good choice with IDNet any problems of any kind IDNet will actually ring you and they get things sorted very quickly the support is fantastic and free, you don't get an email account automatically you have to request it in customer login and you can have as many as you want, good luck with the migration.
Regards

Just to add - you don't need to wait until your BB is active to get the email addy. As long as you have your login details request it now (at their web site) and then you're all set.
