For 2 nights on a row I have contacted Customer Services to get a MAC number. Both nights I have been on hold for over 30 minutes each night.
The first night I was told that they couldn't give me a MAC over the phone so they had to email me with the number, it would take up to 48hrs.
I received an email 24 hrs later thanking me for updating my details. I phoned again to request a MAC and have now been told it will take 4 working days!!!!!!!!!!
Does it normally take this long and why not give the number over the phone, as they have already verified your details?

As mister scruff said it can take upto 5 working days. They can give out the code over the phone but the people you speak to aren't the ones who generate it. Once it's available then they should be able to provide it over the phone/email if you've not got it already at that point.
Since sending my request for a MAC number I have received 4 or 5 emails from Orange asking me to update my details and more interestingly asking me to confirm my bank details as Orange reckon the details are out of date and need confirmed.
I am reluctant to divulge this information especially since I have been paying my direct debit faithfully for years.

Don't send any details they must have them anyway for your monthly payments tell them you just want your MAC which is nothing to do with your bank details.
