Hi i am new to this forum and i have just moved from tiscali 2mb broadband to Orange 8mb thing. I have just done a BT test and they say my line profile is 2mb yet it says on the router 7616 can you help what am i getting? Does it also take time for Orange to put you on the max service or is this just there con?
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1847 kbps
ADSL Max has a 10 day "training" period where it tests your line. During this time the speed can and does fluctuate. Also if your modem/router resynced immediately it might have stuck on the 2 meg profile for now, also much lower sync speeds would cause the profile to stay low until the system thinks it's stable.
Ideally you should see the profile change within about 3 days although it may stay like that for the full the training period. You could check you setup is ok and wiring alright but otherwise it's best to wait out the 10 days and then see what happens to the speed.
also if anybody knows what are my realistic speeds after 10 day period
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Interleave
Noise margin (dB) : 12.5
Attenuation (dB) : 25.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 9856
ADSL status : Connected [0]
The sync is the actual connection speed to the exchange, it can and does fluctuate. In order to make sure the connection is stable without getting disconnected the data profile that controls what speeds you can actually get is lower than the sync. Also to make things easier for managing the connections the profiles jump in 1/2 meg chunks (except the highest level).
The stats you provided show that you should be able to get the maximum speed but the sync was lowered in order to increase the noise margin, also interleave has been turned on. These indicate there has been some sort of stability problems that the system has been automatically trying to counter.
You may want to keep an eye on the downstream rate (sync speed) over the next couple of days along with the profile and see what happens.
Hi sorry to bother you again i was just wondering what does Interleave mean? I am not the best at tecnical stuff but would very mutch like to know what it mans for on other posts there livboxes say fast??
Hi just thought i tell you tht my stats have changed a bit
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Interleave
Noise margin (dB) : 13.3
Attenuation (dB) : 25.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 10016
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Noise margin has gone up and so has attainable download rate!! is this good do you think also can you make a guess as to what is happening.
Thanks Your help so far has been great Thanks So much
Tonight at around 9 my internet went down i had to unplug the livebox and plug it back in and the reading have gone down!!
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d

Attenuation (dB) : 25.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 9440

What is happening i know i am supposed to experiance disconnections in the first 10 days but why is the noice margin going up and down?? I assume this will mean i wont be able to get any more than my current 2mb as the line profile states?? Sorry if i am making no sence just i am not very tecnical.h
