I really hope there is someone out there who can help me. I received my livebox from Wanadoo last week and set it up for a wired connection on the main family PC. It is working fine and wasn't too hard even for a complete novice like me!
I then installed the wireless adapter on my own PC, although I had some problems when it wouldn't accept the product name/SSID I had for it. Rang Wanadoo, who told me to put in Wanadoo-1111, and then change it once it was set up. Once this was done I was unable to connect and had a message from a monitor icon telling me that there was limited or no connectivity.
I tried to repair this problem as prompted and was told 'that this action could not be completed as it couldn't renew my IP address???After reading through some threads on here I noticed that my wireless adapter had a different IP address to that of the livebox, so I changed this manually.
The icon now tells me that I am connected but when I try to open my internet browser it just says that the page is not available offline. Like I said I am a complete novice at all of this and I am wondering whether I should call out the Microtechs that Wanadoo recommend can set up your Livebox etc. I should also mention that I am only getting a signal of 53% but that is apparently still enough to access the internet according to Wanadoo. They also told me that I shouldn't have the monitor icon at the bottom of the screen - that I should just have the green graph thing, which I do have. Please can someone give me some advice. Thanks!
unplug the adaptor
uninstall wanadoos stuff
reboot your pc and livebox
insert the install cd
press button 1 on the livebox (light should flash ontop)
follow the prompts (more details HERE)
Don't do what the others in the thread have suggested. If the livebox is connected and receiving a signal it just sounds like Internet Explorer is not loading up the network
In internet explorer go into tools > internet options. Click connections and make sure there are no n/w connections listed or that any connections that are there are set to "Never dial a connection"
Then click onto LAN settings and check that "automatically detect settings" is ticked. Apply everything then exit. Re-open IE and it should load up the network. If the signal isn't great try changing the channel from the livebox config pages in the security / wireless connection section.
Also don't call microtechs, they will give you no greater level of support than that you can receive from the tech support line and will charge you whether they resolve the issue or not.
Ok firstly manually setting the IP only really works when the connection works in the first place. Using it to try and correct an error like this always seems a good idea and it will usually say it's connected but often it isn't really. Set it back to automatically obtain IP.
Best thing to do to start with would be make a wired connection, the box only needs to be connected to the power and pc, forget the phone line for this bit. Access the config pages by browsing to 192.168.1.1, username and password are by default "admin". Go into security > wireless connection. Copy and paste the WEP key into the adapter software and make sure it's connecting to the correct SSID. Ideally that should then connect and give an IP address like 192.168.1.x
If it doesn't it's likely down to signal issues, or something like anti-virus/firewall blocking it.
I had Three months of problems just like you describe.
Believe me Wanadoo Technical Support havnt't got a clue, the livebox basically doesn't work. You can install it and uninstall it to your heart's content. The only way to stop the agro is cancel your whole deal with Wanadoo and sign up with an ISP that works.
Livebox is a cheap and cheerful device, get a proper router from a reputable firm like Linkys you can find lots of them on Amazon.co.uk/?tag=orangeprobcou-21&camp=6&creative=6786&linkCode=ur1"> Amazon on froogle sites. Then sign up to a reputable ISP in the top 5, like Eclipse, Metronet etc.
Send your livebox back and you'll never look back!
