Thank the lord i found you guys i hope someone can help? ive had my Orange broadband since monday all is well with connection (just)
Iam having a real problem connecting my ps2 to the livebox via a Netgear WGE111 Game adaptor, now ive connected the console directly to the live box via a earthnet cable and it works fine.
So at least i know ps2 network gaming works on Orange, my big problem is i need to have the ps2 connected wirlessley and this i did with the for mentioned Netgear product etc before my nightmare with Orange began. i hav econnected it twice before but it has taken hours to finaly set it up when it does connect its ok but the next day it doesnt work.
The netgear adaptor must work with the livebox so how do i go about getting and keeping it connected to the livebox with out all this hassle.
That's an ethernet bridge I believe, you'd probably be better off setting that up using a PC first before moving it to the PS2 when done. It's easier to check with the PC that it's done.
The main parts you need to do are press 1 on the livebox so the antenna light is flashing until the connection is established, enter the WEP key from the livebox in all capitals, A-F and numbers without spaces.
Ok How do i setup the eathernet bridge on my pc first sorry iam a complete numpty when it comes to things like this when i had this adaptor running before i just pluged it in and away it went.
I did delete some connections from my network connection file when i moved over to Orange coz they were AOL stuff there was a network connection bridge but i deleted it
Ive gone back on to create bridge but it keeps telling me i need to have to connection selected that arnt connected to internet.
Iam sure my game adaptor didin t come with any software to set it up with it juts said plug in and play.
You'd need to check the manual really. If it just worked the first time then it sounds like it just connected to the nearest unsecure network and was happy with that, otherwise you'd need to select the right network and enter any security keys needed.
A quick glance looks like it explains most of the stuff. As I said it appears like it'll be easier to set it up on a pc first so you can change the settings, once working you move it to the PS2 and that should be it.
A few things you'll want to know.
The livebox runs WPA-PSK so try that first,
Livebox address is 192.168.1.1,
If you want to set the adapter a static IP like it suggests try 192.16.8.1.2.
Get stuck somewhere post and I'll see what I can work out.
