I'm in the process of installing my Livebox for the first time and find that there isn't a port big enough on my pc to accept the ethernet cable. Is this because the pc is a few years old, (running on Windows 9, and is there anything that I can do to remedy this??

I too have a 7 year ol PC and no ethernet port. So, connected the livebox to this PC using a printer cable (USB end into PC and the square end into the Livebox) - works just fine
The easiest option is the USB cable but Orange don't support it. The USB etherent adapter is also pretty easy but whenever I've heard of them they seem to cause trouble.
The ethernet card is the better option really but it's not the easiest as you have to open the pc and install the card. That's not hard really if you follow the instructions.
