Hi...this is a tech question about the livebox power usage.
We live in a house that has the electricity on a prepay meter. I have noticed that since installing the livebox, our electricity is used up much quicker. Were not talking much here, (say £2 per week est) but it mounts up, (£48 per year for nothing)
I turn the computer off when not in use but the livebox is on 24 / 7 and must be using power to send the wireless signal.
I was wondering what this power usage is in realterms.
I obviously don`t use the box when im sleeping during the night or at work during the day. Would it matter if i dead switched the computer off so to save energy when Im not using it.
Will it make any difference to my service if I do? I know Orange send updates to the box periodically. Would this be a problem if it isnt on.
There's no problem if an update is released and the box is off. When happens is it checks for updates every so often, if there is one that is pretty new it trys to schedule it for a quiet time, usually at night. After so long if it can't get it at the scheduled time it goes and updates as soon as it can.
The only problem is if you turn it off during an update, if the lights look normal then there shouldn't be a problem.
