Sorry for such a long post but please read as i need advice thankyou.
So to start Orange messed up my phone connection during the 10 days between ordering and being sent my livebox, so the phoneline was down for five days, when the BT engineer (my line rental is with the post office) came round to fix the line he said the broadband was coming down the line. So i try connecting the livebox and the computer recognises it and talks to it but it simple won't syncronise. I phoned tech support and was put through to an english fella who ran me thought the set up (which i know was working) step by step reseting the livebox which i had also already done and it still would not synchronize, the fella said it seems to be a frequency problem but they could'nt check the line as they had a fault with there diagnostics system! I was told that this problem only lasts 30 to 60 mins so to phone back which i did and this time i was talking to an indian fella who i was having trouble understanding and once again ran me through the set up even though i told him i was phoning to get a diagnostics test he just ignored me and ran me through the set up he was more thorough about it and told me that my problem was that i had a splitter on the phone line comming out of the adsl filter. So i tried it without the spl itter and no suprise it still did'nt sync, so i phoned back and this time i was talking to and indian lady who i also had trouble understanding i told this lady that the livebox was set up correctly and that i wanted to know the results of the diagnostics test but was once again ran through the setup all the while you can hear these people getting there info from a trouble shooting database:x Once again i was told that the diagnostics test was faulty and told to phone back in an hour, this was 3-4 hours after the first time i phoned. This time i left it and thought i'd phone back in the morning as i thought it should be fixed by then it was then over my mates that i found this website and started reading all the horror stories, i decided that if they told me that they still coudn't test the line that i would cancel as i don't want to go through what other people have on this site. So i phone in the morning and yep they still can't test the line so i tell them that i want to cancel as i have spent 5 days trying to set this up and the fault is with them and they simple can't help me i explain that the tech support keep telling me that they can't run the line test and am told to phone back in an hour only to be told the same thing, i can't keep phoning it will end up costing me more than i like to pay and this woman then said that it could take a few days to a few weeks for it to be sorted, all this after being told it only takes half an hour! she then tells me if i cancel that i will have to pay the entire twelve month contract for a service that i can't get to work because they can't help me im bloody fuming i feel like im being held at gunpoint. I decided that even if they can get it working i don't want an unreliable service like it seems everyone else is getting. Please give me some advice.
If they cannot provide a service on your line then their contract is null and void......... its in their contract....
tell them you want to leave as they cannot provide the service you are paying for, ask for a MAC and go to a company who cares and knows what they are talking about.
Unfortuanatly they did get it working, i've been connected for five days but today i'm getting a ppp server down error and just can't be bothered to phone the tech support. In the close to a month now that i have had the livebox it has been working for five days before it goes down. also for a 8 meg connection i get a 1.5 to 2.5 connection which i think is pretty slow i was hoping to have at least 3-4 meg. Orange phoned me only yesterday to ask whether the previous problem was sorted out to whitch i told them yes also a few days before that they said they would be doing something or other but that it would be in the early hours so it should'nt effect me. For some weird reason the livebox (when it works) takes about 20 minutes to start working, like it has to sync every time i turn the computer on. God i so wish they could'nt get it working in the first place.
