Bit of advice really, I got the dreaded we`ll upgrade you to faster broadband blah blah, and ever since that date - broadband connection has been awfull. I`ve now regraded my service to free 2mb with the idea of cancelling and going elsewhere. I`ve been looking at various ISP`S but www.fast.co.uk is looking promising. My problem is that i`m currently on Orange`s LLU service, and it appears that if i migrate with that LLU most isp`s will charge £50 well fast certainly do - it this the case. Orange reckon they can just cancel me straight away, and then i don`t need a MAC code, i`ve very confused....any help would be appreciated

Might be worth it to check out Be mate, I know they accept LLU MAC's and I think theres only a connection fee. If your close to the Exchange you'lle get very high speeds.

Depends on the ISP in question if they choose to pass on the activation charge or absorb it themselves, best to ask this to any ISP's you're considering.
As for cancelling, if you do so it will be cancelled straight away but it takes upto 10 working days to clear the broadband from the line. Then your new ISP, again depending on what they choose to do, may charge the activation fee and take upto a further 10 working days to get the line reactivated. The MAC option would be the fastest but in the end it's down to you to choose the best option for your situation.
