Here is an odd issue: my VoIP service was working absolutely fine until about a month ago, then out of the blue a problem popped up on the second line.
Basically, when I pick up the receiver I hear a dial tone and the "phone" LED on the Livebox flashes as normal. I make the call and can hear the number tones, but then this is followed by silence from the earpiece.
The thing is, the connection has actually been made, and people on the other end of the line can hear me wondering what the hell is wrong with the phone. But I cannot hear a word of what they are saying.
I have tried the phone I am using on a regular, first BT line, and it works absolutely normally, so it is not the phone which is causing the issue. And I have rebooted and power cycled the Livebox a number of times without the problem being sorted. My broadband service is working fine.
It seems Orange are having a problem with routing the voice signal from the other end back to my phone.
I rang Orange customer service today and told them about the problem. They admitted that they are aware of this issue and they had engineers "working on it". The stock phrase must be that they "will get back to (me) in 48 hours" with an update. Let's see how it goes...
I have exactly the same problem and was given the exact same info from Orange as you were.
The quality of the internet service seams to have suffered, now not being able to provide a consistent stream of data transfer, which VOIP relies upon.
Edit: Spoke to them again, they just say they are aware of the issue and cant give any turn around time for it to be resolved. Their advice, just keep trying to use it and when you are able to, it would have been fixed.
I just wanted to give an update. Orange, needless to say, did not call me back, but the VoIP service appears to be up and running again. It only took 2 weeks!
Orange basically told me they could not update me. I should not call them for an update, just keep resetting my box daily until it works, for which they could not give an estimate for when it would return.
