Hello.
I finally despaired of Wanadoo and got them to issue me a Migration Authorization Code. Wonderful I thought, off I go. Of course that was far too easy. The MAC they issued seems to be invalid - it is like "LLU999999". As far as I can find out, the correct format is meant to be 10 or twelve character, slash, five characters.
Has anyone else had problems getting a correct MAC out of Wanadoo?
Any idea what I should do now? I really don't want to talk to their "customer support" without knowing exactly what to ask for as they make my brain ache!
You could check to see if your exchange has been upgraded to 8Mb because if the code is LLU then it could mean that it has been upgraded so it could be worth checking on the wanadoo site.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes the exchange has been "upgraded". That's one of the main reasons I want to leave Wanadoo. They made a complete mess of the upgrade so that I lost connection for several weeks and am still stuck at 512k. They can't increase the speed on my line because one of their databases say it has been upgraded whilst another admits it hasn't been upgraded. I also can't change my subscription package because they are in the process of upgrading my connection. They seem to have no consistency checking between their different databases and I've finally lost patience with them.
wrt the LLU bit in the code - I can understand why that might Be Broadband, but it seems suspicious that the MAC doesn't conform with what seems to be the required format.
You could try giving the code to your chosen new ISP and see what happens. But I suspect they won't be able to use it you may have to cancel wanadoo then wait for your line to be clear beforesigning up to another ISP

Thanks for the link.
I'll ring my candidate new ISP to see if they can use Wanadoo's code, otherwise I'll have to cancel. At least I'll see what the new ISP's customer support is like before I commit to them

Good news everyone! My new ISP could deal with the funny MAC, although I had to phone rather than use their web site. The changeover will take longer than normal, presumably because they have to reconnect me to BT but I still get the free migration.
I originally rang their technical support and it was great talking to someone who wasn't reading a script.
So fingers crossed, touch wood, I'll be free on May 3rd.

Oh me of little faith.
I escaped Wanadoo's clutches today. I'm now getting higher speed + newsgroups all for less money. The actual switchover went smoothly and took just over a week.
