I have been with freeserve since it started, all the way through to wanadoo to Orange. :@(
Orange offered me a regrade from 2mb to 6.5mb, great I thought.
The line was regraded and after this my connection went down.
It only came on at around 10pm and went down again at 5pm (just the times I want to use it )
Spent around 7 hours on phone to an Indian call center who jovialy tell me to Cycle my live box which it tech speak for turning the sodding thing on and off.
After telling them countless times that the problem was with the regrade and not the live box they asked me to cycle the live box
I do truly believe that they are reading from a script, this becomes rather apparent after speaking to them more than once.
After speaking to BT they helpfully infomed me that the maximum speed for my line was 2mb so god knows how Orange can offer 6.5mb.
After being *ucked around for 4 months with no connection I got a MAC code and am now with BT.
Orange sent me an email asking me to pay the remaining charges on my account, told them to go and do one.
I too am a longstanding customer but not for much longer.
Orange keep telling me "We have attempted to provision you on a connection speed of 6.5 meg and our systems show that this has been successful."
I asked them to explain why they alone reckon I can receive 6.5Mbps when all the other ISPs are only quoting maximum 4.5Mbps from my exchange......guess what.....they have never given me an answer.
They are very professional at never answering a direct question.
Further examples of unanswered questions, I asked "If my service was transferred to a “high speed network” in November 2006, I certainly have noticed the slower speeds since then. Can you confirm the nominal speed of this “high speed network” ?" and also "I have been assured by Belkin that my router is more than capable of handling 6.5Mbps. The fact is, the majority of the time connected it is only handling 2.8Mbps, at other times less than 200Kbps and, for example between 11:45am and 12:15pm today, it is handling no speed whatsoever because the internet connection failed. Were you aware of this morning’s failure ?
I've come to think that they have only one marketable product and that revolves around a 2Mbps service even though they charge different rates for different speeds. Occasionally you may see 6 but mainly you'll see 4 or less.
